Frankenstuffies Reflective Post

After learning about the Industrial Revolution, Sewing stuffing and green screening and filming, I have created a film about an absolute monster

So first of all, this project started after winter break, so it’s been going on for a while, the driving question for this project is How can we, as writers, weave historical details into our creative storytelling to convey a clear and impactful message? In this project, we mainly learned about the Industrial Revolution.

Urbanization during the industrial revolution

The first thing we learned about urbanization during the Industrial Revolution. Firstly, over the lifespan of the revolution, coal has been mined and is used as a new source of fuel to start a revolution and drive innovation. Some innovations during the Industrial Revolution were the steam engine and factory’s that mass produce items for the public. Secondly, one of the big things during the revolution were the destruction of ecosystems from building the new cities and waste that is terrible for the environment. People started to change as well during the revolution, they started doing leisure sports to stay in shape and started to do more “fun stuff”. They started to go against the work and labour laws making their life worse and ultimately, they won and work conditions got better later on in the revolution

The Frankenstuffies

After learning about the Industrial Revolution, we had to make stuffies out of a bunch of different stuffies to make an abomination of a creature, I chose a Tiger, beluga and a teddy bear to tear apart and make an abomination out of. I then cut them up and started sewing them together to create a monster. After creating our monsters, we had to make a story for them, give them some character, we had to start making our story structure and make something called the hero’s journey, which is a story structuring method which is used a lot in storytelling. We then did a bunch of character building for our character before making our final product.

The Video

One of the last things and our final product was a video of my Frankenstuffie. One of the main components of the video was the character building we used and our hero’s journey of the character, one other element we did was green screen movement to move our character on a green screen and then we used backgrounds in IMovie for our movements, we also used our IMovie skills and our knowledge on the Industrial Revolution incorporated into the story of my  Frankenstuffie and the Final product was a video taking 2 drafts to revise

Reflection on driving question

So reflecting on the driving question, I think I have answered it because firstly, as a writer, I think I have made solid evidence of my learning through my hero’s journey and my story structure which will reflect in my film. Secondly, in terms of historical detail, I think that I have solid historical detail in my film and that shows in my urbanization game and my group jigsaw, lastly, I think I have made a clear and impactful message in my hero’s journey and my video because my storytelling shows that and the strong message I have in my video. So in conclusion, I think I have effectively answered the driving question through my work

Electricity board game

After learning about electricity and circuits, I have built a finicky operation board game

This is my first blog post for grade 9 for science, so the project we did for science was called Watt the heck, and the driving questions for this project is how does electricity shaped our society and how can we generate it more sustainability.

Circuts

One of the first things we did was learning about the different types of Circuts, closed and open circuts, closed circuits were closed so there was no open gap unlike a open circuit which has an open switch. We did some labs with it and they were pretty fun

Energy infographic and board game

Another thing we did was I made an energy infographic, the infographic was where we had to choose an energy source and make an infographic about the pros and cons and more about the energy source. The last thing we made for this project was a operation board game, where we used our knowledge on circuits and electricity on a game, the whole thing was an open circuit and the game was extremely finniky to make because of the small connections that had to be made but in the end I made it work

Reflection

So overall, I think this project was really easy for me because I understood the topics very well and I knew lots of the stuff before I did this project, the only hard thing in this project was making the board game work because it was really hard to get the connections together and to not get them disconnected which was real frustrating and finniky. So overall, I think this project was easy and I did learn some things from it
