After learning about many things about WW1, learning how to make a graphic novel, and drawing our own story for WW1, I have completed my own novel.
So we are approaching the end of the year and it’s almost summer break!! So anyway, this humanities project was mainly on WW1, we learned about WW1 mostly by learning about the different battles, such as passhindale, Ypres and others. We also learned about comic books and how they are made and structured. And eventually, we made our own comics and mine is finished. The driving questions for this project is.How can researching the historical significance of World War I inform and enhance the storytelling in a graphic novel I create?
WW1 and comic learning
One of the first things we did was, obviously learn about ww1. Ww1 tensions were on the rise between countries and Franz Duke Ferdinand was assinated which started the war, we learned about many battles, such as the battles of Ypres, passindale, and many more. We also learned about the life on the frontlines during the war and the sad realities of war. After learning about WW1, we learned about how to make a comic which we needed to help make our own comic. We learned about some techniques, such as bleed and reverse.
The Final comic book
The final product for this project is a comic book on events that happened on WW1, we make up our own character and our own topic of interest. I chose tank operators in the battle of Cambrai, where the use of tanks were the most successful. The tanks in the battle of Cambrai helped the allies take 8km of territory on the first day. I usually drew most of the images in procreate and keynote. I hope you enjoy reading my comic
Reflection
So looking back at it now, learning about ww1 was interesting to me because I did not learn much about history in elementary school, so this was something new and It fascinated me. Secondly, drawing the comic was not an enjoyable experience to me because I am not good at drawing and I did not really enjoy it. Lastly, my comic ended up decent despite me not being a good drawer. So in conclusion. I think the comic ended up decent despite me having no drawing skills.
