How this trip made me closer to my learning group

So for this field study, we went to Loon lake which in in the middle of nowhere somewhere in maple ridge, We did a bunch of physical activities such as shelter building, A Frame walking, rock climbing, and low and high ropes. We also did workshops with Jono, who owns Pinnical Pursuits and we did something like a cooperative leadership workshops with him. I hoped, out of that field trip is to get closer to my classmates. The reasons why we do PLP field studies are to see the world around us, learn about stuff in the region we are in, and see new places.

VMVs

So, for this trip, for the first night of the trip, we reflected on our VMV’s and some parts of my VMV that connect to this field study is my creativity and GRIT, Now this field study changed, supported or challenged my thinking with Jono’s workshops, For example, for the trust fall activity, I was nervous doing it at first because I thought I might fall the wrong way so my spotters can’t catch me and I also thought because I was a bigger person, that my classmates can’t catch me. But in the end, I fell and my spotters caught my fall well. This challenged my thinking because I didn’t trust my classmates as much as before, but after the activity, I know they have my back and they will support me.

Meaningful moment

One meaningful moment for me was the trust fall activities where I fell off a table and on top of the chair and there were spotters there for me, it went well and my spotters caught my fall well. One thing I learned about myself is that I can trust my learning team more than before and that they got my back and support me and this moment helped me grow.

Some stuff I did

A life poster that shows stuff that I do in my life
My 3 best emotional intelligence strengths, this relates to my learning by knowing my strenghs

There’s more stuff I did on this trip that was valuable to me but I couldn’t include here. So the stuff I did was important because for the life poster, it showed stuff I  like to do, like sailing, biking and working out. It showed what I like to do in a creative way. The bottom 3rd portion of the poster is what people noticed about me during the trip and it was meaningful, it made me think I was part of the community more and that I was accepted by my peers. The other thing, the emotional intelligence thing was important to me because it got me to learn my strengths more emotionally and that I could use those to my advantage.

One goal for the next 5 days and the big takeaway

One small goal that I will do is talk to people in my class more, this goal matters because it will keep me to community build and keep my relations with my classmates positive. One big takeway for this trip for me is my community building. I learned how to mingle with the classmates that I don’t usually talk to and use that to build stronger bonds.
