Exhibition Blog Post

For this exhibition, we were challenged to market ourselves to future employers, and answer our driving question of “How might I present my passions, strengths and learning to the world?” By using multiple tools to prepare us for our future. The first step in market ourselves, was how on earth we are going to market ourselves. This led us to dig deep on who we are and who we want to be seen as. To show this learning we started the creation of both a business card and a resume. The business card was relatively simple, where we would first start the creation of a personal logo. This would usually consist of either your initials or you first name, and then either a graphic or something else that you felt fit, and represented you. Now with this being a PLP project, naturally we had multiple revisions, with me having over 20 minor tweaks before I had my final card. Now that our First small keystone had been completed we started dour work on our resume. This was a little more in depth, having skills, achievements, references, Qualifications and some graphics that made sense for us. The final keystone for us was preparing for the actual exhibition by doing a mock interview, so that we would get extra practice in before our the final date of the exhibition. Now if we were to just do interviews for our exhibiton, we would have a very dry exhibition, so we decorated our table with both our business cards and resume, and also some conversation starters. Now I unfortunately missed this exhibiton as I was gone for Christmas, but I was planning to bring a 3-d printed school, A vinyl record and a pair of sneakers, because these were all conversation starters that I felt fit to me.

Now that I have given a little overview of what this project was like, it is time to properly reflect, on my experience, what stayed with me and my overall take on this project. In total it was a great project, which had us really think about who we are, and how to properly and honestly show that. We learned how to improve interview skills, which we will need for the rest of our working lives. We also learned how to create an accurate but also eye catching resume, a skill that I believe will become more and more present in our future, which is why it is great that we are given an opportunity to practice thes vital skills
