Laser laws

Laser blog

For my final blog post in grade 8 scimatics the driving question was test the Pythagorean theorem and the laws of reflection. For this project in a group we had to create a shape with lasers and mirrors that features a triangle, with a 90 degree angle as shown below.  Along with  the laser and mirrors project I also did some Science workbooks  where I learned about the laws of reflection. I learned where a  reflection is the mirror like reflection of  waves such as light from the surface. Also in the science workbooks I learned about light energy like gamma rays , infrared  ultraviolet, radio waves and X-rays. I learned about the seven colours that most people can see are the colours of the rainbow. In the 1600s, Isaac Newton used a prism to separate visible light into the colours of the rainbow.  He hypothesized that light is a mixture of colours that would recombine as white light if pass   Through another prism.

Curricular Competencies

Questioning and predicting: Demonstrate a sustained intellectual curiosity about a scientific topic or problem of personal interest

I demonstrated a sustainable intellectual curiosity because i was really intrigued by the lasers. I thought it was cool that we could do a hands on project because in elementary we only did paper and pen projects.

Applying and innovating: Co-operatively design project

I was gone for 2 weeks so when i got back I tried to ketchup with my group and I applied my understanding of the lasers I really liked working with my group they are all very smart and  nice.
