Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog train! In this stop we will explore our recent project here in PLP titled Digging Deeper where we learned about Anthropology, First Nations cultures, and we all chose an artifact the we researched and made an interactive element on.
In this post I will talk about the Driving question, Ill show the evidence of learning from this project, and finally I will talk about how this project has changed my worldview and my reflection on the project.
Driving Question
How might we use an anthropological perspective to better understand the history of British Columbia?
I think the best way to understand a culture or an idea would be to look at it and study it for multiple years with an open mind which is exactly what an anthropologist does. British Columbia is massive with a super diverse culture and has changed so so much over hundreds of years. It would be impossible to understand the history and predicted future of British Columbia without studying it for multiple years with an open perspective. That’s exactly what anthropologists do. They study cultures and ideas to learn more about that chosen topic. They need all those years to look at every slight detail because anything that they miss could change the way the research could go.
My work
I took lots of notes during this project as we took a test and also to do lots of research for my artifact.

My Artifact
We were tasked with learning and researching one artifact from a culture of our choice from British Columbia I chose a Pipe from the Haida Nation, you can learn about it here.

Project Reflection
I had lots of fun on learning about the Haida Nation while researching my artifact. It really opened my eyes to how powerful of a Nation they were back in their Hay Day they had one of the strongest militaries and posed such a threat to any other Nation who questioned them. I also found it fascinating about their travels to their mainland to trade and find other resources and talk with other tribes. In a way I connected to anthropologists obviously I didn’t do research for multiple years but I did do research for a few weeks and then making a game based on my research.
Thank you for reading.
