DI: not a failure this go-around!

Destination imagination 2025 was not only immeasurably more enjoyable than the 2024 competition, it was also more rewarding. Last year Destination imagination was filled with frustration, miscommunication, and disappointment. Thankfully this year was a complete 180 where all my teammates worked hard, communicated clearly, and tried their hardest.

This year for the scientific teams the goal was to create a story around astronauts landing on a planet and realizing they aren’t alone. My team took this prompt and saw an opportunity to craft a story around astronauts meeting friendly aliens who they immediately become hostile towards the aliens and take ownership of this planet they had just arrived on. In this comedic allegory of colonialism we chose to create our own game, out of all the sports we play. Our other team choice element was a parody song of “We Love the Earth” which was so fun to sing with Sydnee. Our feedback from the judges was entirely positive and we were supported and encouraged heavily by our teacher in charge of the scientific challenges, Ms. Kadi.

I’m so proud of the effort my team has put into this project and I can’t wait for us to win at provincials just like we did at the regionals!
