Welcome to my Mpol!

Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

Wow, I’ve learned so many new things this past year, I’ve grown as a learner and improved tons! In this presentation I will be sharing with you some of my past projects and what I have improved on!

My vision missions and values

Around the start of this year we had to, answer these questions. You probably remember seeing them since I presented them to you a few months ago. As I look back on this I recognize that recently I have accomplished some of these things, such as being positive with group members and taking responsibility for in a group.

Run a remake

In this post I will be sharing my journey through remaking a short horror film.

How it started

A few weeks ago when we walked into class, our teacher showed us a quick preview of a short film called RUN  then she told us straight away that we had an hour to copy the exact film and do it ourselves with random groups that we got put in.   Me and my group quickly claimed a forestry area and started to film, there were so many different types of shots that we had to include with only a little bit of time. When we finished we headed back in side and started to edit, by adding sound and editing all the clips to make the film the exact time, which was 1:17.

The next class

When we walked into the same class about a few days later, we all had to sit in our groups and the whole class had to watch everyone’s films and then give feedback to the group. Then we also learned that we had to remake the remake video that we had created the class before. We were put in the same group as before but we were allowed to switch up the different roles. My roles were main runner and costume designer for the group.

The process of remaking then remaking a film

I was a bit nervous to remake another film. I just hoped that the sound this time would math up better then it did before. We also struggled with making sure we had all of our shots and weren’t missing anything. I really liked our final product and was happy with how clear the shots eneded up being. We also got 314 views ( with only 8 likes 🥹).

The driving question

The driving question to this project was How might we learn video skills by recreating a short film? My answer to that question would be that its like going back to check your work twice you get the second chance to make something you think is great or not to be every better. We could learn new things about yourself such as for me as I am currently taking drama in school it has helped me with me have more confidence acting in front of others.

The final product

I will attach the final video to this post so that you can watch it. Personally I thought that me and my group did a really great job on compleating the task. We all divided the work equally throughout the group.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post! Hope you enjoy 😊!

What the heck!? Science!!!👩‍🔬

In this post I will be sharing what I have done so far in science! Science has been one of my favourite classes so far! I love getting to build things, create infographics and learn how to create circuits!

infographic

towards the start of the year we got to create infographics! The infographic had to be a type of electricity that we chose, I chose solar energy! The reason I chose solar is that I’ve done a few of these projects before and have always chosen different types except solar, I was excited to learn how just from the sun you could power energy! This was definitely one of my favourite projects that we did in the first term. Here’s a picture of it! I also add a video of how I know solar energy.

Board game

For the next project we had to do the term was we had to learn about circuits and protons and neutrons. In the end for a final project we were assigned to make a game. it was basically like the game operation so we had to get aluminum to touch using wires and tweezers and make this little light go off. We also got to choose what character draw and colour and add it onto our box. I love to doing this project and I think I did really well on making the light go definitely with the first times I tried it. Here’s a picture of mine.

The driving question

The driving question was what impacts do elements and compounds have on history and modern Day Society?
My answer would be, thankfully after doing tests in the past, we know lots more things about different elements and what are ok to eat and have around us, we wouldn’t know all those things unless we tested away. It’s also good because we get to learn these things with the elements that weren’t tested.

conclusion

In the end. I loved doing all of these projects and can’t wait to find out what I’m doing this term! Thanks for reading!

Vive Les machines a metaphors🎭

This years project was very different from last years. This years project was called a Metaphor machine. We first had to learn about different stages in a revolution. We started researching Crane Britons 4 stages of a revolution.

Then we read a book about animals starting a revolution against humans and then in the end of the book one of the animals thinks they are better then the rest of the animals, the book was called Animal farm, personally I didn’t love and agree with many things in the book but overall I thought it was a decent book to read.

Brinton’s Definition of “Revolution”

A drastic, sudden substitution of one group in charge of the running of a territorial political entity by      another.

Incubation Stage

When the problem starts and is hard to control.

Moderate stage

Lead by moderate leaders in the early stages, Moderates try to fix the problem with violence.

Crisis Stage

The (Big Boom stage 🤯), it all gets worse and violence increases.

Recovery Stage

The terror ends.

The next few days

The next step was to also chat with classmates and the teacher about the book and what were the characteristics in the story that made it to be a revolution. We then had to take all of our notes on the book and create an infographic which is to show the stages in a revolution through the book Animal farm. I really enjoyed making the infographic since I got to be creative and make it look really exciting and eye catching at the same time.

Once we finished with creating our Animal farm infographics. We got put into randomized groups and randomized revolutions that have happened in the past. I got put into the Meiji Restoration along with Cece, Oliver, Ian, Isacc and Finnley. We then had a week or so to create another infographic but for the revolution we were in.

I loved my infographic and I really enjoyed getting to build my own.

Once we created and shared our personal infographics we had to end up incorporating all of the other group members into one amazing infographic. Once we created that we got introduced to what we will be presenting at the exhibition.

I was assigned to do the Recovery stage.

It was a Rube Goldberg simple machine showing the Meiji Restoration. I forget how long we had to create this machine but I think it was sometime around a month. We had to bring stuff from home, plan out how the machine was going to look, each of the group members were each assigned a part to design and build.

Here is photos of us creating our machine and how we designed it!

How the exhibition went

The day of the exhibition was stressful and everyone was hurrying to get their projects all finished up. That day our project still wasn’t cooperating so I stayed back in lunch and tried to get it done! Successfully after a few test runs and some quick adjustments I got it to work! Then that night I also brought in some confetti canons that we set off even if the machine didn’t work. Here’s a video of our machine working and Cece cleaning up the confetti. The machine did not work every time but we really attempted to get it to work. In my opinion I thought it looked really good otherwise.

The driving question

The driving question to this project was what factors precipitate ‘revolution’ and how have they shaped the modern world? My answer would be that revolutions can all start in many different ways but they all start with one person who needs to change things. If we all just worked together it would be so much easier, that way everyone’s ideas could be heard and who knows? Maybe that would create something great. I definitely struggled to have my ideas heard with the rest of the group and I can also improve on hearing others ideas as well!

What I felt about the project

I found this group was a little but hard to work with and found it challenging to cooperate and have everyone’s ideas be apart of the project. I liked getting to work with students I didn’t know. Overall I had a fun time!

Thanks for reading!

How have I demonstrated growth as a learner this year?

I have taken corrections and notes to revised and improved work, I have also encouraged my curiosity towards projects to get above and beyond. Also being creative with responses and growing my learning process.

How can I practice resilience in the face of challenges?

As I am growing as a learner, and will be facing challenges in the future, I could always re perspective them into growing opportunities and making negative thoughts into more positive, also if I’m feeling overwhelmed I can break down the challenge and work on it individually.

Thanks you!
