The insiders (outsiders)

Hello everyone! This project was all about the novel outsiders by S.E Hinton.

The driving question is: how does the outsiders hear, read, and see influence us?

The start of this project we were assigned a chapter of the book at the end of every humanities class. Then we would read a chapter in class and discuss it between peers. We would ask questions and take notes about every chapter. While we were reading the book we had to fill out a character deck, a keynote with info about all the characters. The character deck I did had a lot of info and pictures that explained everything about the character.

this is only the first page for the file is too big

Then we had to create a you vs who keynote document which you had to fill out the personality traits and a section about the characters world view. I chose Ponyboy. Because he is a lot like me, he loves his family and he is hard working. I didn’t really get the part about worldview and I don’t know how to do it properly even though it has been explained thoroughly. I thought I did it right but I did it wrong

Next we started working on a movie trailer with a group of people. You were to chose a outline in iMovie and then you went out and had 2 hours to create one. Ours was the outsiders if they were in a pandemic. The greasers and the socs are anti-maskers and maskers. The whole movie is about the maskers and anti maskers fighting for their rights. The idea of the trailer was confusing for me but I ended up playing my parts right which is surprising because I didn’t know what we were doing

the next thing we did was get into random groups and do our first tableaux. A tableaux is a frozen scene in which a group of people act out, without moving. My group was trying to make a mountain but we forgot to make everyone at a different level and it didn’t look very good. Then we created a individual movie poster. My poster was a picture of me thinking because ponyboy, the character I chose, has a knowledgeable world view. Then I put a title “The Outsiders” and a caption saying “stay gold”. I also put a bit of info on the bottom stating when it came out and who it featured. The bottom was a quick sketch but I shouldn’t have done it because it doesn’t fit the poster that much. So in the future when I make posters I should chose something that fits the photo I chose. Or make it a photo and not a drawing.

The words at the bottom are cut off so i’ll tell you what they are

Next we chose one poster from all of our group’s designs. The one we chose was Camerons B’s.  it had a picture of a black and white city in the background, and it said the outsiders in white. He also put a picture of us together like a gang. It also had all the info on when it came out and who it features, etc, etc. after we chose our group wanted to make some changes like adding a sunset and turning us into a silhouette. And we changed the font of everything and added a rating at the bottom. I can only show the final one because that is all I have. I made the silhouette and the sunset in procreate and then I gave them to Cameron and he made the rest in Canva.

Then we worked on our tableaux. we were acting out the rumble scene at the start of the falling action. After we had perfected our performance we set up where we were doing our tableaux, we put white sheets over the books because we were in the library. We cut out some trees, and placed a metal cylinder in the middle of our space. I actually wasn’t there to set up but I cut out the tree the day before. And here is a Timelapse of the setup.

and the answer to the driving question is:

The outsiders influence what we see, hear, and read by showing how worldview is very important in our everyday life even if we do not know it. The outsiders showed me that life without worldview is just boring and everyone would be floating aimlessly without a single care in anything.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog! Bye.
