Hey everyone! So for the last little while I’ve been posting about the blogging challenge, but today is the day we are finished our latest project. As you might know every project has a driving question, and so for this project the driving question was β€˜how can we learn from the past, and why does it matter to us today’ and to answer this I’ve added pictures of my work and talked about the milestones which is basically my answer. This project was called β€˜how it started-how it’s going’ and this is why.

For this project we all made our own meme which was based off a portrait from either Renaissance or Medieval times. We then added our faces into the portraits, and accessories to represent our aspect of worldview. We completed six milestones which all led to the launch of the museum which is where all of our memes are now. In this post I will be talking about milestone two and five. I chose to talk about these two milestones because those were the most important milestones, and the one’s where I got to show my understanding of my worldview, along with the Renaissance and Medieval times.

Milestone two was important because that is when we started learning about our personal worldview. But before we completed milestone two we filled out a β€˜ranking historical significance’ sheet. In this sheet we had to choose five events which were a big part of our worldview and then we wrote about how the event was notable at the time, how widespread and lasting the consequences of the event were, how symbolic the historical issue was or how trendy it was, and lastly we had to rank it out of five, five being least significant and first being most significant. Then we made our way to milestone two where we started by making a collage of our worldview including the five events we chose in the worksheet above, and then wrote a supporting statement which expressed how the images made the connection to the aspects of worldview. Making this collage really helped me understand my worldview better and helped give me a good idea of where the project was going.Β  Milestone two connects to the competencies responding to text and empowered leaner. It connects to responding to text because we had to write a supporting statement which helped show that I can construct meaningful and personal connections between myself and the text, along with showing that I can transfer my ideas to create interesting and informative statements. Milestone two also connects to empowered learnerΒ because you had to use so many different apps to create the worldview collage which shows that I can use technology to properly and effectively show my knowledge.

Milestone five was the other important milestone because this is when we got to actually make our meme, as well as write an argument/artist statement. Like I said above everyone’s meme had to include either a portrait from the Renaissance or medieval times. My meme included a portrait called β€˜Portrait of Pope Leo X withCardinals Giulio de Medici and Luigi de Rossi’ made in 1518, which was during the Renaissance times. I then swapped out their faces with my face, and added things to represent economy like Gucci jewelry, a super puff, and diamond rings to show that if you have money you can buy anything you want. I also swapped out the book and bell for an iPad because back then they had buy books to gain knowledge, and now people buy devices and just search stuff up to get information. Milestone five connects to the competency Establish historical significance because we had to connect our meme to how it was back then and it is today which shows that I can identify significant people, places, events, and developments.

My Meme:

Each member in each team had a job. In the economy team (my team) my job was to be the DRI which stands for Directly responsible individual. Being a DRI means that you are in charge of your group, so if something goes wrong you get blamed for it, and when things go great you get complemented on it. Me being the DRI means that I am in charge of the group, so whenever they get things done, before there hand it in they have to check with me and get my approval. Things I did well while being the DRI was that I kept everything organized (everyday I would write a to do list so that everyone would have something to do), I also kept everyone on task, and made sure that everyone did their part. Things I could have done better we’re making sure everyone always got their work approved my me before showing the teachers, and making sure that I checked things off on the whiteboard when they were finished.Β

Wow that was a long post, but during this project I learned how to use cool new apps like superimposeX, procreate, and the techies got to use ArtSteps which is where the virtual museum was made. In the end I learned all about the Renaissance and Medieval times, my worldview, and about being a DRI. I hope you all enjoyed this post but before you leave, go check out the companion exhibition guide which has everyone’s collage and supporting statements, and also check out the economy groups blogsΒ Dana, Cole, Max L, Samuel, Sepaus, and Julian.Β
