Mr. Harris, you remember my mother, Christa. Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

Successes

My first success is Frankenstuffy’s because it wasn’t just easy or something I could do really fast. It was a success because it’s combined two things that I always find interesting.  One of them mainly is storytelling. I like how I can express myself with storytelling and dealing with their issues, like personal problems. I also like learning the origins or things. I do this a lot with Warhammer.  I didn’t know how much fun I’d have finding a bunch of random stuff and putting it all back together to create my stuffy abomination. I forget what his name was but it’s something like McBeefcake. I found the sewing really hard because my because of my fat fingers and my meaty hands. It’s hard to get a needle through something and pull it back out. I really got into the groove by being patient and asking for help. It was really fun to do and I was happy in the with my abomination and his story. He looked really stupid. He was made out of one stuffy and a bunch of dog toys.

F.A.I.L.

The first DI was a big failures because the first time we put on a present we got last. Which sucked. I didn’t know any of my lines and neither did anyone else.  Our machine didn’t even work. It was too complicated. We only got caught halfway through…. A real bummer. When we went around the second time, we went through our whole story and our machine worked. We had to simplify the script and the machine a lot. I remembered all my lines. Everyone else did too.  We had less people the second time around so it felt more cohesive. Two many cooks and all.

Successes

The Alberta trip was a big success for me. I’ve never really done multi-dayhikes before and I found out it was a lot more fun than Oregon. We were just hiking for multiple days straight, which was more fun for me. This trip also got me out of my comfort zone because I’m not used to doing that. Another thing that got me out of my comfort zone was talking to strangers. I don’t normally. I don’t really like talking to New people. I don’t really know why, so that was a big deal for me. I remember in Grade 8 I was so shy, I wouldn’t even talk to my group members.

Failure

Unboxing Me was a failure for me. The reason I feel this is because I was just sitting in my room filming a video. That’s not very interesting for a project actually. Time felt boring to watch and make.  I wish I had asked someone to film me walking on the beach or something, but I kind of thought of this a quick one and done. Just get it done and hand it in. I would have put more of my personality into final product to make more interesting to make anyway. Next time I am stuck on a project I find dull I am going to find a way to make the process more fun more me.

Failure

Seven Habits Level Up Challenge was also a failure. I skipped a lot of the reading a lot when doing this one. I found the book boring and not very exciting. The book doesn’t even make sense to read in Maker Class. We’re supposed to make stuff that is interesting. Habits are not interesting to me. I get that we have to talk about our habits but I think it would fit in better in Careers or something. It would make more sense to do something around history or like fantasy. My final product was pretty bad. I just found the whole book just really boring to read and didn’t grab my attention at all. The fun part was filming parts with my friends.  I wish we could set goals and tried accomplish them and keep track of the goals instead of blog posts.
