Week 6, Why is the sky blue?

Hi guys, I’m here today to talk to you about week 6 of the student blogging challenge, science! Let’s get right into it! my driving question was why the sky is blue, or at least to our eyes.

Turns out, the sky is blue on a cloudless day because Molecules in the air scatter more blue light than red light that they get from the sun. If you want to get more scientific, blue light is scattered more because it travels as shorter and smaller waves than other colours. When you look toward the sun at around sunset, the reason that you see yellow or orange is because the blue light is being pushed out of the way. The ocean actually works the same way as the sky does when we are talking about why its blue. However, in the oceans case, instead of molecules in the air pushing it out of the way, the water absorbs the other colours while it reflects the blue because of their wave frequency’s.

In this video they go over what I talked about and why the sky is blue and they explain in a little better than I do. They also talk about what colour the sun is, why clouds are white, and why the ocean is blue.

Portraits, and photos and other stuff for fun

Hello again! Today is a little continuing on my post Photos, everywhere! However, its a continuing on the project at school rather than the post itself. In my last post I talked about how I edited photos to make them, funny, comical, or just adding y own touch. This time we were supposed to do portraits. They could be of yourself, your family, friends or anyone else. We were supposed to do at least 1 self portrait, one portrait, and a before and after of an old photo. Check down below to see them. Make sure to comment and check out some of my other blog posts!

Above you can see the photos I took with different kinds of lighting, a cool angle, or just a self portrait. I really liked experimenting with cool lighting because it gave the photos different meanings and gave off a different feel. The angles were something that I thought was really interesting though, because it made you think of different ways to convey things through your photos.

This slideshow was a photo walk that I did ranging, from photos just from walking home, when I went hiking, or just walking near the pier. This was really cool because each of the photos of the different places were taken at a different time so it’s a little hard to compare. The photos from when I walked home from school was taken from 3:20-4, the photo from the pier were taken after 5 and the photos from the hike were taken in the morning. The theme in all of my photos, though is nature that is polluted by humans, so in every photo you can see evidence of human contact.

The before and after photo was probably the hardest thing to do for me because my family moved once and most of my photos were of places that are hard to go back to. Also, my mom didn’t want her face shown on the web, and didn’t like the idea of any of my other family members, on the web either. In the end, I wasn’t allowed to.

This is so far my most favourite project because I like taking photos. To finish this post I will leave you with a few photos I took just for fun.

Photos, everywhere!!

Hey there, today I’m here to talk to you all about …. drum roll please! Photos! Today is all about a school project I did on how to take amazing photos. For this project we were tasked to take some photos and personalize them by bringing these photos to life with our own little touches. We were also told to take a photo walk with a theme. For example, all of my photos have a circle in the photo some where. However, that a topic that I’m addressing in my next blog post: snapshot!

Our assignment was to take an every day object and make it interesting by adding these personalizations. The photos that I took can be seen above. I used markup which is a feature that I have when I go to edit my photos. I simply added faces to my pictures and added a speech bubble. Tell me which photo you liked best in the comments below!

Emoji’s!

Who doesn’t love emoji’s? I certainly do. Hi guys, it nice to talk again. Today I want to show you a few things I’ve made out of emoji’s, for this weeks challenge. I decided that I would make a few quizzes out of emoji’s. can you solve them? If you can make sure to comment below!

Question 1:

If 🤦‍♂️ times 💇‍♀️= 20

And 🙇‍♂️+🤦‍♂️=10

what would 💇‍♀️ be if 🙇‍♂️ was 6?

Question 2:

👘👘+🎩=18

🎩+🎩=28

👘+👟=22

👟👟+🎩🎩🎩+👘=?

Question 3:

👬+🧥=16

🧵+🦈=12

👬+🦈=10

👬+👬=14

🦈+🐾=?

Extra quiz ( not in emoji’s)

Chose a number between 1-10

Double it

Add ten

Half it

Take away the number you started with

Is your new number 5?

(If you did not get 5 you did the math wrong)

Week 5!!

Hi there! We are getting into the start of week five and I was thrilled when I heard that there was an option to do a book review! As you probably guessed , that’s what I’m going to be talking about today!

My current favourite book is one called “The Devil’s Workshop” (TDW) by Alex Grecian. Alex Grecian is the author of “the Yard” (TY) which is a bestselling novel and also happens to be the prequel of “the Devils Workshop”. You don’t actually need to read TY before TDW though because it makes sense whether or not you read TY. I read TDW first which then introduced me to TY.

The Devils workshop is set about one year after Jack the Ripper’s rein and is about what would happen if Jack the Ripper was actually caught, but not by the police. Instead he was caught by an origination who believes in a different kind of justice which involves the criminal being put through what their victims felt. In this sense Jack the Ripper was caught and was tortured for about a year. This story started when that very organization planned to “move” 4 convicts to an their place of retribution. This is where they are holding Jack the Ripper captive. Their plan goes awry and ends with 4 convicts on the loose. The police get involved to try and capture these villains. One of the main detectives on the case, Detective Day Walter, is families with one of the convicts because he was the first criminal Day caught. Consequently, this convict knows where Day lives and now he is trying to catch all 4 criminals before one of them kills his pregnant wife.

If you enjoy murder mysteries or you are interested the third book is the harvest man:

I would give this book a 5/5. I think that the author does a great job with using words in a way that keeps the readers on their toes and keeps the pages turning. It really depicts Jack the Ripper as this crazy and dangerous criminal and I think that that was incredible. He also managed to write the book while changing to different perspectives and still keeping the book on track and relevant. This is an amazing book that I highly recommend but I would like to warn readers that some of the details in the book are a bit gruesome so this book is for a mature audience. Please keep this in mind if you would like to read the book. If you do read it please leave a comment down below on what you thought about the book. I will close with a poem from the book:

Push me down and shut my box,

And twist my arm about.

And listen to my merry tune.

I’ll soon be coming out.

Push me down again, dear Childe,

I’m safely hid away.

But I’m not gone; it wont be long

Till Jack comes out to play.

Oregon add!

Hi guys, here again to talk to you and today i want to talk to you about the ads i made for and Oregon business. My class went to Oregon on a school trip and we each had to interview a business with the groups we were divided into. I was in a group with Kira, Jude, Thomas, and Ben. We interviewed Clarks Restaurant. It is a great place and the food there is spot on, I recommend it to anyone that loves burgers, or milkshakes, and even if you don’t i still think its a treat to try.

My draft one shows the Clarks restaurant with all the chairs stacked up because i thought it was a good photo and i wanted to incorporate it in my add somehow. It was rejected right away and my teacher told me that it doesn’t relate to the restaurant and doesn’t have a call to action. After getting that feedback i could actually see how the photo was not relevant so I agreed to change it. I also made a note that it was too dark and didn’t give the audience a great feeling because of that so i tried to get a brighter picture for draft 2

After draft one i decided to use the same photo in different lightings to try and see which one would be better for Clarks. As such i had to versions of draft 2 pictured to the left. I personally like the lighter one even though I think it looks to unnatural. The darker one kind of makes it look like someone died there and that’s not a vibe i want to give.

You can see above that my classmates seem to agree with me. For the class feedback i showed the darker one because i thought that that one would need critique and i wanted to see what my classmates thought. Their criticism was helpful in the sense that I knew that I shouldn’t use the darker ad.

For this draft i tried to fix up the lighter ad in draft 2 but i changed the photo. I think that this works better because you can read the writing a lot more than you could in draft 2.

Finally for this draft I changed the photo AGAIN. I tampered a little with the lighting to try to make it look better but I don’t know how well I like that. I think that if I might focus on the food more and put a picture of the food for the ad.

Be sure to leave a comment below and tell me which one you liked best!

Oregon field study

Hi guys! It’s great to talk to you again, today I am here to talk to you about the time I went to Oregon! This was for a school trip so sadly it wasn’t a vacation but I still got to have a lot of fun. We had just finished reading “The Highest Tide” by Jim Lynch. This was perfect because during the trip we went to all of these amazing places that related and were talked about in the book.

During the trip we were all divided into groups and for each business that we visited, a group had to make an add for that business. This was just like the Deep cove business ads that we did. I was in a group with Thomas, Ben, Kira, and Jude. We were the first group to interview a business and we had Clark’s Restaurant. It was amazing! The food there tasted great and we were all satisfied afterwards. You can check the ad I made for them at my post, Oregon ads!

For me, the best thing on the trip was probably either the food, or the Highlife Adventures which is where we were basically zip lining from tree to tree. At the second to last line, their was a lake and you had the option of a hand drag, foot drag, butt soak, or full soak. The majority of my classmates did the full soak and a little more then half of those who did got stuck in the middle of the lake. Those who got stuck we decided to call “drowners”. The tourguide/instructor had to climb on the line to get the drowners out of the lake. I had originally planned to be boring and go for a hand drag because I didn’t have a change of cloths, but then the teachers said that we would go back to the campsite right after and I could change. So then I made a deal with Mathew so that if I did the full soak first, he would do it right after. So I did and I got soaked but Mathew on the other hand got stuck in the lake, joining the drowners, and got full drenched. After that we had to walk for a little ways to the last line where we crossed back to our classmates. Our teachers then said that we were running late and we couldn’t go back to the campsite so I had an uncomfortable time on the bus.

One of the best places we went to eat was probably John’s Incredible Pizza company simply because there was an arcade in the restaurant and it was a buffet. For the best tasting food, I would honestly have to say… Nisa’s Thai Kitchen. I think that it had great seasoning, the staff were nice and because I’m Asian and there was rice. I highly recommend the place and I’m sure everyone in my class agrees when I say the food there was superb.

Here are some awesome photos from the trip!
