tPOL June 2025

Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

At the start of this year I realized how close I am to graduation. As each year passes my grades become more and more important, as they set me up for my future.

Going into the start of this year, I tried way harder to prioritize school and thinking more about my future and helping myself get there. I still have a ways to go but I’ve improved a lot this year and I’m proud of myself for that.

Humanities has never been a strong subject for me, especially the social studies part, but as I’ve gone through this year I’ve learned to find interest in the topics we learn about. In our project The World Needs More Canada, I learned a lot more about Canada’s history and why it is how it is. In this project we looked into Canada’s multiculturalism, as a multi cultured individual (Italian, Norwegian, German, and British) this was a very interesting topic for me. At the end of our project, Definetely NOT the 51st State, we all practiced public speaking and wrote speeches to read to the class. I used this chance to write more about Canada’s multiculturalism, doing my own research and incorporating what we learned in class.

Here are some photos of my speech:

For this second semester in PGP we learned a lot about workers rights in our project Work It! I got my first job this year as a swim coach working at my local pool and the lessons we had about my rights as a young worker were very helpful to me. After these lessons I was inspired to look deeper into my rights as a worker and am now more confident in telling my supervisor if I am not comfortable doing a task I feel is unsafe. We did lots of activities such as quizzes and watching videos of instances where workers were injured. The videos were disturbing but they helped me learn how important it is to know my rights. At the end of the project we did a quiz that asks questions about our rights and I got them all right! The questions were about things your supervisor is and isn’t allowed to do or ask you to do mainly.

Here’s a photo of my craft notes on the videos we watched:

This semester in Maker for one of our projects we went to Disney world! On this trip we got to go behind the scenes (not literally) at Disney world and learn more about how the company works.

If you don’t know much about this project here’s a link to my blog post about it:

Changemakers; Walt Disney Reflection

In my group; Under the Influence I learned more about the power influence has on companies and how one person’s opinion could affect a whole company. This project was obviously my favourite project this year considering we got to go to Disney world for it!

As my grade 10 year comes to an end I notice how much more effort I put into my projects and that I’m trying a lot harder to get them done. Since my mPOL I made a little list of homework I have to do on Things and have it as a widget on my home screen

I also have an alarm for every day at 4:00 reminding me to do my homework. Which gives me time to relax for a bit once I’m home and reminds me that I have homework. Even though I still miss some assignments I’m on the right track.

I’ve tried harder in my non PLP classes as well such as french, science, and math, this year I got 100% on one of my math tests, which I hadn’t done since the very start of grade 8. I’ve worked to pay attention to lectures and keep up with the class so I don’t get overwhelmed. Finishing this year I’ve worked even harder to become a better learned and will continue to into grade 11.
