Humanities- Geography of the West

Hi
Been a while
DQ: How has the Geography of the west shaped who we are? This was probably one of our most open-ended driving questions so we split in to groups: Economy (Mostly about the CPR and its industrial influence), Diversity (Which is about how different cultures and people were influenced), and History (I’m relatively sure this was about big events in Canadian History). I was in the economy group. So my answer (and my groups) is: The Geography of the wes has shaped us by allowing us to have a thriving economy with many important industries that have helped us settle and develop.
I was going to title my book “sickness and sorrow: sensational stories of the southwest” (it wasnt that bad, but its such a good aliteration, and I got sick)
I was going to add pictures but I have like none
Chapter 1: trip 2
The Last Spike in the CPR was pretty interesting, they had a memorial and everything. They also had a gift shop and I bought some mini oreos instead of saving money for something important >:D
Downtown Calgary
The library was very cool, it had a  bunch of unnecessary architectural feats so it was very elaborate. Our Hostel was very uncomfortable (all the hostels’ beds looked like wooden prison cells) (felt like it too). Calgary is full of these electric scooters and its like a car share for scooters and its so cool and I wish Vancouver had some.
Although I got sick, the trip was really great. I think PLP trips should have a day  of downtime in the middle, when I skipped zoo day it was really great and I felt a lot better the next day. End of trip, last day: On the last day our bus broke down and it was exciting to say the least. We almost didnt get back on time, but Ms Hall managed to find a coach leaving from a gas station near by. So we all set out on a 30 minute walk and the bus was sooooo nice, It was like a business class flight! Even though getting in at 9 pm isnt ideal, its a lot better than staying in golden for a week.
But yes in the end the trip was very fun (:
Competencies (thinking): I think this project was great for learning about the history in Canada and it my favourite part was the railway stuff. I love the CPR and its concept.
