My Triptych and Me

In the Renaissance, ideas and knowledge, new and old, from Europe and Asia changed the world, even to this day, in a multitude of ways. The re-learning of Roman and Greek texts which was boosted by the invention of the printing press opened people’s minds to learn about and progress art, science, literature, and philosophy. Another thing that affected people greatly, mainly today, was how humanism played a central role in Renaissance philosophy, basing philosophy off of the ability of an individual.

Clocks were modernized, making people’s day more organized, people made glasses, Allowing smiths and engineers to do more fine tuned mechanics and allowing people to read easier, books were made more common due to the printing press, allowing production of books and theses that became very important in the renaissance.

Art was based purely on religion, due to the fact that the churches were the only people that commissioned art, people started to regurgitate information about bone and muscle structures from the Islamic golden age, there was only one type of Christianity, Catholics.

People have made much more advanced structures of the human body, leading to leaps and bounds in medical advancement, and things such as smart phones and screens have been created, and are used to make art, music, and entertainment, amongst many other things.

In Conclusion, the renaissance was a period of time that affects us still to this day, through innovations and ideas like the printing press, art, science, literature, drama, and philosophy. These innovations and ideas were sparked due to the intermingling of culture and information, as well as people starting to open their minds to the world around them.

This is my triptych. For those of you what don’t know, a triptych is a piece of art divided into 3 panels, the middle one being the largest, and the left and right being half the size of the centre panel. It is displayed like this so it can fold, and was used most prominently in the renaissance.

To make my triptych, I used super impose X to add my face into each photo, and to put the photos together. I added three thing to the left and right panel, and a bust of David with my face on it in the centre panel.

I had a bunch of fun with this project, and I gained familiarity with some pretty cool apps while doing it.

All in all, this project was super cool, and taught us about things in the renaissance that were really interesting and intriguing.
