Mpol 2025

Hello everyone, welcome to my Mid Year Presentation Of Learning. Let me begin with the pledge.

“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”

In this presentation I will be assessing myself and analyzing my “Vision Mission and values”. We will look at my areas of improvement, my strengths, and areas with room for growth. I will also be discussing my future goals as well. With that being said, let us begin.

at the start of this school year we filled out our VMVs. In this picture you can see my vision, Mission and my values which we will get to later. My vision is essentially the person that I want to be when I grow up. It’s up to me to make my future self proud, and take the steps to become the person I want to be by graduation. My vision speaks on how I want to be a hardworking but balanced individual by the time I graduate. To do this I mentioned how I want to have systems and habits to deal with everything in my life. But am I doing this currently? For the most part I would say yes. I track what homework I have to accomplish on my phone and iPad whilst also being flexible enough to hangout with family and friends. But as always there is room for improvement, for example I could try using a better app than the notes app. Overall I’m happy with my progress so far towards my vision.

right below my vision is my mission. My mission is to set myself up to accomplish my vision. In my mission I mention putting quality into my work, but I also want to put quality into actions. For example, asking for feedback, communicating with teachers and piers. I also mention habits. I wanted to have systems to organize my work and keep balance in my life. An example of this is that I have started going to bed earlier which helps me wake up earlier. What I think I can work on is communicating with my teachers. I ask a lot of questions but I usually only ask them in class, I should be messaging my teachers and I should be asking them how I can reach extending, which is a goal of mine.

These are the values that I choose to prioritize for this school year. How am I doing? For self regulation it’s kinda 50/50, I have learned to focus more through strategies like going to bed earlier and tracking homework, but I still do have moments where I’m stressed out. To counter this stress I will try to not procrastinate my work. I’m also open to suggestions. I mentioned agency in my mission. I recognize that I am a loud person yet I could still be more persistent in asking for help and for feedback. I need to take my work and reflect on if I could have done better, I need to take agency and make those important revisions. In the communication and collaboration area I believe that I am extending. I constantly engage in class discussion as well as ask questions during the class to better my understanding of what we are working on. For example we had a talking circle for BCFP and I was very vocal and constantly participating.

Humanities has been one of my favourite classes throughout high school. And I believe I am doing better each year in this class. So far in humanities I have been doing pretty good. My work has been constructed with quality and sometimes passion. I need to be more consistent. In humanities this year I often do really well on most assignments, but sometimes I tend to procrastinate. This is mainly due to levels of interest. For some projects I am super locked in and excited, but for some I don’t work as hard because I might not like the topic as much. I recognize that I need to be more open minded and most of all consistent. The current project we are doing is focused on Macbeth, I am very interested on this project and I have organized my work well. For example my humanities Macbeth notes are very organized compared to notes I would have made last year.
My other PLP class is BCFP (British Columbia first people’s). I was pretty excited to start taking this class because I often enjoy learning about the land I live on. So taking a deep dive into the indigenous peoples and their culture appealed to me. I am actually very happy with my work so far in BCFP. I have been very open minded to learning about different topics, as well as actually showing interest and engaging in class. The number one thing I’m most proud of in BCFP was my winter exhibition project with Dylan and Jupiter. Our project was about indigenous days and celebrations.
I am really enjoying this course and I look forward to learning more. I do think I could communicate a bit more with my teacher in BCFP and ask for more feedback.

When looking back on this year I am proud to say that I am well on my towards reaching my vision. I have grown as a student and an as a person this year, and I have shown the evidence of that in this post, wether that be refining my habits to set myself up for success, or communicating with the people around me for help. Obviously I have lots of room for growth  in many areas, but I am going to apply myself even more so I can reach my goal of extending.

Thank you for listening.
