The Restart

Hi guys welcome back to another blog. Today we are going to be covering my most recent project in my humanities class. This Project was about dystopia. The long term goal of this project was to write our own dystopian short stories.

At the start of this project we watched the movie V for Vendetta. This was to inspire us to think about what a dystopian society looks like. This movie was a good example of a dystopian society and it taught us some of the main ideas behind dystopia.

we then moved onto our next venture. We were all assigned books that focused on dystopian society’s. The main goal of the books was to get inspiration for our short stories. I read the book Fahrenheit 451.

This book is set in a dystopian city where books are burnt. People aren’t allowed to read books. Eventually the main character realizes and sees through the propaganda against books. This story inspired me to make my short story about censorship of media.

once we finished reading we moved onto the process of creating our stories. I knew I wanted mine to be about media being censored, but I lacked a good setting. I decided to go with a futuristic city thats dark and polluted. My story follows a girl named Casey who experiences an internet shutdown. She finds out that during this shutdown, history and lots of other media online have been deleted and replaced. She finds out the agency responsible for this change and works with one of her old teachers to rebel. Here is my story. The Restart final copy.

I’m very happy with how my story turned out. It really captures the themes of dystopia and censorship. In future I would like to make my stories longer but I’m happy with my writings development thus far. As a whole I’m happy with my performance in this project.

Thank you for reading.
