A Little Bit About Photos

Hello! It’s Ryder and this weeks challenge is all about photos. With the internet at our fingertips we have access to greatness, although without due diligence, it can also cause many troubles. Online photos are a great example of how you can take advantage of the internet and its capabilities. Knowing how easy it is to copy and paste or screenshot photos online, I can understand how hard it is not to take advantage. If you are unsure if the image you are intending to use is under copyright protection, there are ways to check. One way to make sure that the image has no restrictions for google is to change the privacy settings in the tools section. It is not legal to use images that are straight off a website or in a google search. Although, there are many kinds of software and tools to use when you need photos. For your blog you can use tools such as Pixabay. For other uses some of the software you can use are:

You can also look for the Creative Commons logo. Creative Commons is a form of copyright that allows the images be free for the public to use. Artists may use the Creative Commons logo if they would like to have their tag on the photo or any kind of recognition. In the tools that I mentioned above, you will find Creative Commons. I personally believe Creative Commons is a great way to use a photo but still give credit to the rightful owner. Now with all of your knowledge about photos, I made a poster to help you when you need an image. Here is a list of the order that you should follow when choosing to use an image:

The next task in this weeks student blogging challenge was to find images that all are well composed. I chose these photos because they all are shot a a good angle or the main focus is well positioned in the frame. I also found that another thing all of the photos are of somewhere scenic or of nature.

The final task in this weeks student blogging challenge was to either do the picture or poem prompt. I chose to do a quick free form style poem on our Oregon coast field study. This imaged was from Pixelbay and it is an amazing photo of Cannon beach in Oregon.

The Sunset glows with an orange flair

Conversation and laughter fills the air

the wet sand shimmers, the fire sparks

we learn and explore from dawn till dark

  1. Hi Ryder,
I’m Mrs Barrett a teacher from Scotland.

What an excellent blog – well done. Your explanation about using photos correctly is really clear. Thank you for sharing all the websites that you use, I had heard of some but I am always looking for new sites to share with my students. Where did you learn about these sites?

Your poem is really beautiful and eloquent. Thank you for sharing it.
