Cypress Mountain (Youth West Program)

Attention Students 15 – 19 yrs old

Would you like to:

Gain valuable experience in a fun and friendly environment?, Meet new Friends?, Ski or snowboard in your spare time? this program is for you..

The Youth W.E.S.T program at Cypress Mountain offers training and work experience to give you employment ready skills and prepare you for ski resort emplyment.

Work Experience – Youth W. E.S.T paricipants will work on the mountain three days per month from Nov/Dec to March/April plus a few additional hrs over Christmas and Spring Break. You will be trained  and gain hands on experience in 4 areas of ski resort operation: Alpine Services, Food & Beverage Services, Ski and Snowboard rental and Mountain Host. Benefits: All students in the program will enjoy the full privilege ski/snowboard pass, free ski/snowboard rentals, staff discounts on food, staff discount in the retail shop.

Create a RADIO ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Society for children and youth are seeking youth age 14 – 24 to create radio announcements on the rights and issues that are important to them. If you are a person who is concerned about discrimination, poverty, a clean environment, your right to participate? Then this program is for you! View poster here! Have your voice heard – All participants will receive human rights training, gain leadership skills,and media training. As a group, we will create a set of 30-second radio public service announcements that will be played on radio stations throughout BC about rights-related issues that are important to you. What can you expect? The first 2 days of training will explore youth rights related topics like community building, education, poverty, well-being, discrimination, and safety. On the third day, we will record the announcements and get them ready to go on the radio. We will all collaborate to produce a PSA in 3 stages:
1) Record voice and sound
2) Produce the PSA
3) Distribute the PSA to radio stations throughout BC.

This is a 3 day commitment! Participants who complete all 3 days of training will receive a $100 honourarium. The training will take place during the day on October 22nd, 23rd (Saturday and Sunday) and November 5th. Who can apply? All youth aged 14 – 24 from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland are welcome to apply. All transportation costs will be covered. We are looking for a diverse group of youth who can commit 3 days to the project. That means we want people with all sorts of interests and lifestyles, ethno-cultural backgrounds, sexual/gender orientations, income levels, abilities and disabilities, and other differences that will make us a balanced crew. …. BCIT Biotechnology Career Awareness Program

This is the twelfth year of the Biotechnology Career Awareness program. The program is directed at Grade 10 – 12 students with an interest in science and is built on a partnership between BCIT, Life Sciences BC, local biotechnology companies.

The program will provide bus transportation (when applicable) between the laboratory and the industry site.

MINI MED for students interested in research and medicine

Each year the Chail and Family Research Institute presents oa series of talks on health research. ALthough this is intended for the professionals, high school students are encouraged to attend.
Seycove can send 2 students in Grade 11 or 12.  This years theme is IMMUNITY
After attending MINI MED you can apply for the summer studentship-working in a research lab for 6 weeks.
