What do YOU want to BE when you finish school?

The “green economy” is changing the face of the workplace in BC and around the world. The green elements of BC’s economy are growing faster than the province’s economy as a whole. The number of green jobs in BC are expected to double in the next 10 years. What an exciting time for our youth who many have NO idea what they want to “be”.  This is much more than a career fair as it allows youth to interact with career mentors from various sustainability related careers who have excelled in their green careers.

This interactive career conference will be offered free of charge to 125 young people and will allow participants the opportunity to:

• Meet and interact with successful people who will share their sustainability career paths in 5 breakout sessions
• Learn about emerging sustainability career opportunities in BC and Internationally
• Listen to an inspirational keynote address from Dr. Nicholas Coops, UBC Professor and Canada Research Chair in Remote Sensing for forest productivity and conservation
• Meet the engaging creator of Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story documentary film

Win prizes throughout the day like UBC clothing, gift certificates and a $500 cash scholarship

The conference will begin with an inspirational keynote address and then participants pick from over 25 careers to explore. Students will be treated to lunch, along with a presentation from a local film maker. The workshop will conclude with a wrap-up session and a chance for the participants to win prizes. You must be registered to attend. Register early as space is very limited. For more information, visit http://www.greenbricks.ca/futures/index.php
