RE:    Spring Camp Work Experience Placement

We are looking for 14highly motivated, energetic students to fill the Spring Camp Work Experience Placement. This placement will provide an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience working with children in an educational setting, work on their communication and leadership skills, develop a sense of teamwork and explore career options. Applicants will be accepted based on the student’s work experience objectives and personal interests, as indicated in a cover letter, resume, and completed student information form, as well as a phone  interview with the Camps Coordinator.  

 

Title:                     Spring AquaCamp Educator

Department:         Education

Term of Position:  Mandatory     Training:                                  

Full Commitment: Two full weeks during Spring Break, 8:30 – 3:30 daily        

Part-Time Commitment: One or two weeks during Spring Break, 2:30 – 6:00                         

Placement Dates: 14 full-time and 3 part-time student leaders needed

 ·         Training Day – Saturday, March 8, Time – TBC

·         Self tour time – Anytime during the week of March 9

·         AquaCamp – March 17-21 and March 24-28

 Please note:  Students must be able to attend the mandatory training session.  Changing dates with different groups will not be allowed.

 Job Description    Assist with the preparation, delivery and clean-up of Spring Camp program.  Enhance participants’ experience through group activities using hands-on, interactive activity stations and props.  Help supervise and lead small groups of children during play and gallery exploration time

Please Note:  This is not an Animal Care placement; students will be primarily working with children and not be working with marine life.

 Skills Preferred:            

·         Outgoing, enthusiastic and self-motivated

·         Experience in educating and/or working with children

·         Students in Grade 11 or 12 preferred

·         Excellent interpersonal, time management and presentation skills

·         Must be creative, flexible and proactive in problem solving

·         Interested in learning about marine biology and/or education
