Young Women in Public Safety Student Employment Opportunity

What is Young Women in Public Safety?
This internship program was created by Government of Canada to introduce grade 11 female students to the wide range of careers available to them in the public safety and security field. Selected candidates spend one week visiting public safety organizations where they meet women who are experts and leaders in this field. They see firsthand the exciting career opportunities available to them.
This year’s internship will take placeJuly 9 – 13, 2018. Successful candidates must be available for the entire week.
The benefits of participating
This paid internship will broaden the students’ awareness of possible careers in the public safety and security field. The experience will help them plan their educational paths to excel in these careers.
Students will create a profile on the Federal Student Work Experience Program website, which will allow them to apply for student positions with the Government of Canada throughout their post-secondary studies.
Selected students will apply for a Security Clearance, which will be a great asset when applying for future positions with public safety organizations and any other Government of Canada department or agency.
How to apply
In order to apply, students will need to apply to the specific opportunity called Young Women in Public Safety Internship Program via the Public Service Commission Federal Student Work Experience Program, and include a half-page essay outlining why they want to participate in the program and how they feel they’ll benefit from participating.
