Empowerment Camp

Fearless 2022
Empowerment Camp for High School Girls

The Camp aims to support teen girls in accessing their individual and collective strengths in order to empower themselves and help create social change. Some of the topics covered during the camp include: Friendships, relationships, assertiveness, boundary setting, self-esteem, body image, sullying, cyberbullying, and media/social media awareness. These topics are explored by engaging in activities such as discussion, games, art, video, music, drama, writing and physical activities such as hiking, canoeing and interpretive tours, as well as by inviting guest speakers.

The camp is all-day (10:30am-4pm), free of charge, and breakfast, snacks, lunch and all materials are included! Spots fill up on a first-come-first-serve basis, so we wanted to reach out and make you aware of the program in case you know anybody who might like to enroll as spots are filling up fast. You can read more about it on our website, and to hear what some of the girls who have participated in previous years thought of the experience, here is a short video

North Van Rec – Hiring Summer Camp Leaders

Camp Leader & Sports Instructors Needed

NVRC is currently recruiting Instructors for our upcoming children’s summer camps at both our Ron Andrews and Parkgate Community Centres near Seycove (minimum age 15).

Summer shifts will range from 3 hours (half day camps) to 6 hours (combo camps) for staff. Camps run weekdays only, so students would work 15-30 hours per week. We are quite flexible if staff have varying availability throughout the summer and can schedule shifts accordingly. Whenever possible, we just ask for staff to be available for a full week of camp (Monday-Friday) so that we can keep staffing consistent for the campers, but if availability changes week-to-week we can work around that.
