Winter Exhibition Presentation

Winter exhibition reflection

For this years PLP winter exhibition our theme was Avatar. For this project we made artifacts (boxes) to answers the driving question, ‘what did James Cameron’s fantasy world of avatar teach us about the real world?’. To help us record our progress and process through creating our artifacts we used launch journals to help us understand the project and make us confident once it came to our presentations. The theme that I had chosen for my theme statement was ‘conflict between humans and nature’. Everybody chose there own theme they felt best represent the movie and there box.

Process

To start my process of building my artifact we started by choosing a theme and writing a theme statement. After choosing our theme and our theme statement we started thinking about ideas for our box and drawing out our prototypes. This is the prototype I drawn and planned out!

For the third step we bought all of the materials we needed to start our box! We only had a week to build our final model we would be using for our exhibition. We added our final materials to our builds and made sure everything was perfect. Finally we got into our groups for our rooms and started decorating them to match the themes. My rooms theme was abandoned and polluted planet and i think we did a really good job with the rooms final design as we only had 3 days to fully plan it out and decorate it.

Strengths

My rooms group worked really well together and everybody had equal amounts of decorating and cleaning to do. I had a really fun time working with everyone in our group and being creative with everybody. The box i made was definitely one of the funnest and coolest projects i have made and my presentation gave detail of my box and the theme of my box and why i had chosen that.

Overall, I had a lot of fun building my box and working with people to create a really creative room and present my box to the public and show what my perspective is on avatar and why i picked that theme.
