Hello and welcome to my pre-mPOL post and welcome to my blog as well! Today I will be talking about the mPOL or Midyear Presentation Of Learning. In this post, I shall talk about my mPOL driving question, what is an mPOL (optional, go to the very bottom to see), an answer to my driving question and evidence to support my answer (I have some links set up below.) All right. Let’s get started.

My mPOL oath

Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am an expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my project. We will discuss my strengths and weaknesses. Thank you in advance to thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

The purpose of an mPOL is room for improvement

Driving question: what is your learning goal for the end of the school year, and how do you want to reach it

My driving goal for the end of the year

  • My driving goal is to improve the quality of my schoolwork and organization. The two tie in quite a bit. The piece of work I am the proudest of recently came when I used my organization well. I had planned out my weekend schedule and had a lot of details set up in things. What I’m talking about is my Star Wars blog post. Not only do I feel like it was the most visually compelling piece of work I have made, but it was also understandable and well made in my opinion. This is an example from Humanities.

  • Some of my worst pieces of work came around when I was not organized. A prime example of these were my SBC posts, or student blogging challenge posts. I handed the bulk of them in late and it was work that I was not proud of. The main one that comes to mind is the SBC post on week 6. It was a short post, done without any real attempts. In my opinion, a serious perk to being in project based learning programs is the ability to be proud of the work that you complete because you often have evidence of it, like a keynote, or a blog post.

  • An example for the humanities class comes with the Medium Is The Message blog post. In the blog post, I feature my ads. My ads were done for a local deep cove business ad and a local Oregon business. At the time, I had no idea how to stay properly organized. I’m sure that if I had to redo my ads, I would time block to have time to find templates, make drafts and revise.

How will I reach it?

This is something brought up many times in class. I’m talking about time blocking. I have rarely employed this even though the teachers strongly encourage it. One of the strategies would take place on Fridays and other days of the week when I would map out my weekend and time block it. I would do the same every night, and set a repeating reminder in things. I will also utilize my reminders as well as time blocking. Reminders and things would be used in a similar way, but I would manly use things and reminders as a “check showbie”, “check basecamp” and “check things” sort of app. In turn, this will affect my work as I will feel on top of things (no pun intended) and have the right time to do what I want in the desired amount of time the I want.

With my scimatics, one of the things we get to talk the most about is the Applying & Innovating competency. This competency is about group effort. Without more organization, I will surely not contribute to the community and group equally when compared to my peers.
