Renaissance: a Change Engine

Hello, welcome to or back to my blog! In this post I will be talking about my latest project in humanities. This project was called “Renaissance a Change Engine.” The driving question was: “What significant developments emerged from the past and how do they impact us today?“ The first thing we did was learn about the printing press and how it was evolutionary. Here is a paragraph I did on the printing press:

After that I we learned bout what makes a good paragraph with the burger method. After we learned about that we then learned about different significant historical events. We then had to rank them. The one we thought was the most significant you had to do a “beautiful paragraph” on. Here is a slide show of the burger method, my rankings, and my paragraph.

After we learned about what N.A.M.E. stands for, it stands for Novelty, Applicability, Memory, and Effect. We then were introduced to the N.A.M.E. charts, we had to do four that were from the Renaissance that you thought was important. We needed to do one for an inventor, one of an invention, one of a piece of art and one of a societal change. To choose what ones we wanted to do we highlighted them on a photo. Here is what my photo looked like:

If you would like to see the information on the N.A.M.E. charts here they are:

After we had finished all four N.A.M.E. charts we then had to choose one of them that you thought was the most important durning the Renaissance. We then had to write a paragraph on the thing you chose, once we did that we then chose three reasons why. As an example, I chose Leonardo Da Vinci, my three reasons were: How he applied scientific method to the ways of life + human anatomy, and the design of scissors. If you would like to see how it turned out here is a photo of the paragraph.

Once we had all of this information we started to make a triptych. If you don’t know what a triptych is here is a link to Wikipedia. Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych

Here is a photo of googles definition if that didn’t help:

You may be wondering “What did you have to do for this triptych?” Well like normal triptychs from the Renaissance you need three panels with art that are separate. For our triptych we needed to have all of the things that we did for our N.A.M.E. charts. On the Left we needed to put the art and inventors, in the middle we put present day, and on the right we did the societal change(s). The white bars are the separators and when something passed over it would change to whatever that section was. Here my triptych:

If the instructions on what we needed to do were too ope here is a photo of the criteria page.

Overall this project was great because I love to learn about historical things that have happened. I cant wait to learn more about historical things but maybe in the future we could learn about one person and their story. I find its more interesting when Im learning about just one person. In my opinion I feel like I could have gone deeper in my name charts and could have gotten more information.
