🎸What Do I Geek Out About?🎸

🎸Bass Guitar🎸

What You Need to Know About the Bass Guitar.

The bass is an instrument, its the lowest pitched member of the string family. It has a long neck, and typically 4 to 6 strings. It is normally electric meaning the volume comes from an amp. Basses normally come with around 21, to 24 frets. Frets are on the neck of the bass guitar, they are the lines that separate different sections down the neck of the instrument. Another thing to know is the different strings, the highest pitched string is the G string. The one that is slightly deeper than that one is the D string, the one that is deeper than that one is the A string and the deepest sounding string is the E string. But that is for a bass with 4 strings. The bass guitar is an instrument that needs to be tuned every know and then, sometimes even before every use. I LOVE playing the bass guitar, and I am sure you will too!

How to Get Started With the Bass Guitar.

First thing’s first, you are going to need to get/borrow/rent a bass guitar. You can pick if you want 4, 5, or 6 strings. I personally have the four stringed bass guitar. Now you will need to have an amp and a wire to plug the bass into the amp. I recommend getting a longer wire over a shorter one because it provides a lot more comfort and space to move and rock around, while you play. Now that you have a bass and an amp, you can go ahead and either buy a tuner, or install an app. I personally recommend Guitar Tuna, it’s a free app, and the one that I use.

Ok so know that you have your bass, an amp, and a tuner why don’t you try to play. First off try to pluck each string individually, just to get a feel for the strings. For the bass guitar, its not really a strumming motion like it is for a guitar/electric guitar. It’s more of a like pluck/picking motion.

Now that you have played around a bit, you can start to watch some YouTube videos to learn how to do the basic scales, and to learn some important notes.

Here are some really great songs for beginners to play: Money by Pink Floyd, Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie, Don’t Stop Believing by Journey , and Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple. That is pretty much how to get started, you could also get lessons or join a band if you wanted to. Now you’re all set to go rock that bass, ENJOY!     🎸🤘

☀️My Blog Post Reflection☀️

Here is my reflection of the post “What I Geek Out About”

-I think it went really well, I enjoyed writing about something that I am passionate about and love to do, instead of writing about something that I am not interested in. I felt like when I did this, I actually wanted to do it. Whenever I write about something I love it always turns out better because I put time and hard work into it and made it very detailed. I am very happy with how my post turned out, I think that there is a perfect amount of words and images so readers wont lose interest, and I think that if someone who wanted to start playing the bass was reading it, they would want to play it even more and learn more about it. So overall I think this was a good post that I did, and it was a lot of fun!

-The hardest part for me was trying to find information about the 5, or 6 string bass guitar. Mainly because I only know stuff about the 4 stringed bass guitar, since that is what I have. I didn’t end up putting much information about the 5/6 stringed bass guitars because I wanted to be sure about it. Another hard thing for me was the photos. At first it was fine, and then I decided that I didn’t;t really want my face on my post. So it took me a while to figure out a solution. Finally the emojis came in mind, I am very happy with how it all looks in the end.

-The easiest part for me was the writing itself. I kind of had this idea in my mind from the start, so it all came pretty naturally.

-I will definitely continue posting on my blog and maybe even make some short GIF’s for it, like of little clips of my bass playing. Eventually I might even make a video!
