Science 9!

Yeahh, we are starring the new school year strong. This project was a lot of fun to make, and wasn’t too heavy on the homework side of things.

This project was on ecosystems, biology and was quite over the place. The next part of thus post will be explainging the bulk of the work that we did. Check out the media linked at the bottom of each reflection.

Bioaccumilation

Bioaccumilation Is the process of micro materials stacking up as you go up the food chain. These photos sum it up very well.

So for this we made a cool animation that would show how this affects us. We are eating the fish that are in the same ocean as we pollute, so we are destined to eat plastic like the person in the video.

Animation video

We learned about the different spheres as in the atmosphere, the gas layer over the land, the geosphere, the land itself, the aquasphere, the water, the cryosphere, the ice, and the biosphere, the living things.

I’m not sure what we did for these concepts, except for the insta post.

These spheres are affected by us because mostly we are a big part of the biosphere, and our influence spans across all of the spheres. We have polluted everywhere, we have dug out mountains, melted ice, put co2 in the air, and put oil and plastic in the ocean.

Wildlife management

For this one we made a video that explained the wolf cull, but it makes more sense when you know what it is and the video has some explanation.

So, the wolf cull is an act instated by the government of bc that allowed and encouraged people to hunt wolves to a certain extent. This was to try to preserve the population of the caribou since wolves are the main predator to them. This turned out not to be a good idea, and we should rather slow down the logging of the forests, since that is the caribous crib. As said by the scientist Logan at the end. We tried to make the video chaotic and comedic, so we trade off factual value for said comedy and chaos.

In what ways have humans affected the delicate cycles within our ecosystems, and how can we lessen the impact.

Driving question 👆

All of the instagram posts in the last milestone answer a part of these questions.

Humans impact cycles within our ecosystems by polluting, overusing and by simply being unaware of the consequences of their actions. In my opinion the best way for humans to lessen our impact on the world as a whole is to get educated on how they affect the environment around them. If they know what they’re doing, they’ll have to make conscious decisions about their actions and in turn won’t make as many bad decisions.
