Hello people,

In Scimatics for the past month or so we have been focusing on chemistry. For this project we were asked, how do atoms and ions act like characters? To answer this we created animated videos and Iโ€™m here to tell you what I learned in the process.

The final product was an animated video that tells the story of chemical bonding. My video was carefully animated and to showed electron arrangements with Bohr models. I had a clear voiceover where I used proper scientific language. For example I used words like polyatomic and valence shell. I showed curiosity for this topic and project by using all my class time wisely. With an exhibition ahead we had to be focused. Being in the form of an animation, this project allowed us to show the electron exchange/ sharing in a detailed way. I displayed ionic and covalent bonding in a creative way. I made it Star Wars themed to fit with our exhibition. The big idea was that that the electron arrangement of atoms impacts their chemical nature. I showed a full understanding of this through this video in many ways. From a detailed voiceover to animated electron exchange, I did this project well and learned a lot.

It all started with this mind map:

Now I have this animated chemistry story:

The End
