Bok Choy Boys…

Why hello there,

Today I’m going to talk about toy figurines that were popular about 6-7 years ago and I think I speak for all of my friends that these figurines where the best collectibles at the time.

I don’t exactly know where or how they became so popular but my guess is that they started with kids who play hockey. I could only find one place that sold them in their small toy vending machines and that was at the Canlan Ice sports when I finished my skating lessons. They were popular for about less than a year but generated hours of fun either pretend fighting, dropping them from certain heights, or making little houses for them out of lego (those were some of the tings I did with them)

Since they were sold out of a small vending machine they were pretty cheap. I remember paying a dollar to get a plastic capsule with the Bok Choy Boy inside. Collectively I probably spent about $30-$40 worth of these little toys that eventually got lost but in the end, its the experience that counts😉. Since lots of kids had them, you could find lost Bok Choy Boys in playgrounds, classrooms, or literally the parking lot outside of the ice rink where they sell them.

As seasons passed, different series of Bok Choy boys came out like Chinese New Year which had zodiac animal symbols. There wasn’t any proper name for each season because they were called season 1, season 2, season 3 etc. In each season there were about 12 characters and in series 1 these were the names of each character: day, sky, peace, fire, lucky, snow, moon, night, power, love, star and water (you can differentiate them by their colours and their symbols on the back of their head)

If you’re interested in purchasing any I’ll list some websites where you can buy Bok Choy Boys:

These were some great toys and even though I lost them or my mom gave them to my cousins, I keep finding 1 or 2 around the house that bring back memories.

Thanks for reading again!
