Essential Question: In what ways does social media affect the choices we make with our body?

For this project, I was tasked with creating a video that explores a topic related to health and fitness, while addressing the ways social media influences how we perceive our bodies. At first, I thought this would be a straightforward project, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how complex the issue is. Social media is filled with influencers, extreme workout routines, and “perfect” body images, all of which can make us feel pressured to look or act a certain way.

I wanted to use this video to challenge that narrative and show that health doesn’t have to be about fitting into a specific mold. Instead, I focused on offering advice that was both realistic and achievable for anyone, no matter where they were starting. The key points I shared were to start small, find activities you enjoy, and seek out trusted sources of information.

Through the process of making this video, I realized how much social media can shape our ideas of health—and not always in a positive way. But I also learned that it’s possible to use social media in a way that supports healthy habits, by being more mindful of what we choose to consume. The goal was to provide some clarity in a space that can often feel overwhelming.

I’m proud of the video I made because I stayed true to the message I wanted to share. It wasn’t about being perfect or trying to impress anyone—it was about creating something that could help people feel more confident in their own bodies, no matter what they saw online.

Reflecting on the project, I’m reminded that focusing on the core message is often more important than making everything look flawless. The feedback I received helped me see where I could improve, especially with editing and visuals, and I look forward to applying those lessons in future projects.

Next time, I would love to experiment more with the visuals and polish the editing further. But overall, I’m happy with how the video turned out, and I hope it has the potential to help others rethink how they approach their health in the age of social media.
