Exhibition Reflection.

Hello, today I will be speaking to you about my spring exhibition experience, even though i was originally not going to be able to stay for the entire exhibition I still made it work and here’s how. About 2 weeks ago we started working on our ads for the business that we worked with in Oregon, my business was the Columbia River Maritime Museum, and everyone had an interview with their business so they can get some input for their ads. My group was supposed to go and have an interview with them but for some reason not explained to us we did not get an interview so it was up to us to make the ad entirely through our own research and thought process. When I first began working on the ad it took me several attempts to get to the final product but once I did it turned out great. After everyone had their ad ready and approved it was time to start working on the exhibition, my group was Julian, Monica, Lucio, Rhadan, Gabby and I and even though we all weren’t best of friends we made it work. We wanted to make it seem a little more exiting than just a boring museum stand so we decided to use some separate ideas that made our booth stand out more. When we actually started working on our decorations it really seemed to come together, we then assigned things for all of us to bring to the exhibition so it isn’t all on one person. After a while it just seemed so familiar to the winter exhibition because of all similar precautions and nerves. A few people had to bring food a few some more decorations and one person brought the activity. Later that day we were informed that 2 people from our group couldn’t go for the entire exhibition so that really set us off track, then I got home and found out that I myself couldn’t even go, I had to work at the exact time of the exhibition and I was not happy at all. I tried to get anyone possible to cover for me but no one could so the next day I told my group that I could only stay for the set up and I had to leave as soon as it began and since 2 other people in my group were already leaving it was a huge issue. Now, the day of the exhibition had arrived, everyone had brought what they were supposed to bring well except one person who had literally one job. We were missing our activity so our booth didn’t have one at all. After school had ended we got to work we first rolled out those huge blue mats and settled down on the gym floor, after that the teachers and the janitor pulled out that big collapsible wall that I didn’t even know existed. Then we set up our booth and snacks and drinks which I will admit, I did have some. At around 4:45 I tried one last time to get out of my work and I got turned down so I started packing up but as I was waiting for my ride I got a call from someone from my work saying that I was covered so I could stay, so I ran back put up my iPad and began to explain to the people that came about my project. At first there wasn’t anybody but they started to roll in since it was an open event, the first person came by and I explained that this was a more interactive style thing than me just blabbing on about my work in the beginning it was hard to talk about it over and over so I. Made up a script from myself and I thought that it was pretty good and people seemed to understand how it worked much more than me talking the entire time. Though there were a few people who didn’t really get the message that you had to touch the screen yourself instead and some people just looked at the launch portfolio home page and said that it looked good so I had to explain to them again that you had to touch each slide to read it and a few got it but not too many did.  Even though we had quite a spread set out not many people wanted any snacks but the parents specifically because I saw that they were kind of dodging them to seem fit in front of the other parents. When it ended I felt more ready and experienced with my public speaking skills even though it was one on one speaking. So overall I feel that it was definently  a different experience than the winter exhibition and I felt like it was more presented. I am glad how it went and I am glad I got to go.
