Provincials was an unforgettable experience—full of fun, challenges, and a ton of learning. One of the hardest moments came when we found 1 of our 2 mermaids couldn’t come to our first competition (Regionals.) That meant we had to rewrite part of our script, and fast. I needed to take Evelyn’s lines and I made sure I memorized them in time. We practiced whenever we could during tutorial, and class.

Of course, there were other challenges too. Our sets ripped, we didn’t have tape when we needed it, and we were super nervous about the scene changes. But even when things went wrong, we stuck together and helped each other out. We even came up with funny lines on the spot, and the audience loved them. Our dances went great, and the appraisers really liked how creative and fun our story was to follow. After everything we went through, placing second at Provincials felt like such a huge win. I was so proud of us.

DI helped me grow in so many ways. Especially team work and building bonds with people I don’t usually hangout with. I feel like our team really came together with problem solving, instant challenges, and all the set backs we faced.

I’ve always liked working in groups because I feel like I get along with most people. I like teamwork because I feel less overwhelmed when getting big tasks because I know I have others that will help me solve problems with. This time was no different I was really lucky to have a helpful and creative group that worked together well. We all had fun together even if we didn’t love all the aspects of DI like the long hours, and stress, we still had found lots of fun in the long process of DI. Everyone brought something special to the table writing, dancing, building props and we worked better together because of it.

Our team was creative, supportive, and full of energy. We cheered each other on and came up with cool ideas. During the Instant Challenge, we worked as one team no stress, just collaboration and laughter. DI taught me how important it is to be prepared, communicate early, and show up for your team.

Provincials showed me that when people work together and support each other, incredible things can happen. We faced many obstacles, but we never gave up.
