Atomic Habits learning post

After reading the first three chapters of Atomic Habits I’m starting to see how small changes can make a big difference. The book talks about how getting just 1 % better every day really adds up over time. My goal is to use these ideas to help me focus more, get my work done before it’s due, and take more responsibility for my learning. I want to build better habits that I’ll actually stick to not just try to change everything at once.

My Learning Vision Mission Values

Something that stood out to me is how Clear says habits aren’t really about goals, they’re about systems. Instead of just saying “I want good grades,” I should make a plan or routine that helps me get there, like doing a bit of work every day or going to tutorials when I need help. Another thing I want to learn more about is how identity affects habits like if I see myself as someone who gets stuff done, I’ll probably act that way more often.

This really connects to my VMV. In my vision, I said I want to graduate with good grades and go to trades school to be a carpenter. My mission talks about showing up to class, getting work done on time, and putting in effort even when I’d rather go biking or fishing. Atomic Habits fits with that because it’s all about making small choices that lead to big results later.

The driving question asks how improving by just 1% each day can help me take responsibility for my learning and create balance and purpose in my life. For me, it means trying to do a little better every day like paying more attention in class, staying off my iPad when I need to focus, and not giving up when work gets tough. If I keep doing that, I’ll build better habits that help me in school now and in my future later on.
