Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning, responsible, and accountable for my progress. You can expect an honest evaluation of my achievements and areas for growth. We will discuss my strengths, opportunities for improvement, and my goals for the future. Thank you in advance for listening and offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.
Within my 5 minutes I have to go over multiple topics some that Ms McWilliam have chosen and some that I have chosen to talk about. So let’s get into it!
First I will talk about my Vision Mission and Values as I presented to my Mom at the start of the year then did so during the Mpol. I will reflect on if I achieved those goals or not. I will then answer the driving question; Why am I ready to move onto the next grade?

Vision;
I said how I wanted people at Seycove to remember me as that friend who helped them get over a hard time in life or in school. I also wanted to help other to give my work a boost by bouncing ideas from that peer critique process.
I think I achieved that goal as I did critique lots of my peers work in both group projects and individual projects I think critiquing my friends work also helped give my work a bit of a boost.
Mission;
My mission was too help my peers think outside of the box and push them to try and think new things I wanted to do that both in and out of schools.
I think I achieved that as I got my friends into new sports like mountain biking, me and Tom started working for my mom and help her with her woodworking and we both had to think outside of the box for that and bounce ideas of each other. I also thought more outside of the box with Chris as we made our scrapbooks by finding a different approach with both what to write in it but also different images to put in to help bring it to the best we could make it.
Values;
I think I was way more on task and locked in this semester.
I did make and activate a focus mode every day to keep me on task.
I think I was way more focused on my homework compared to last semester.
I asked all the questions I had to friends and teachers.
I accepted all the feedback that was given to me and fixed me work.
I continued to revise my work twice every time I had to hand something in, once for grammar and punctuation, and once for checking to see if I met the criteria.
I continued to raise my hand in lectures and contribute to group work. Especially during the last spring exhibition.
I was both the writer and speaker at white boards to have the best of both worlds. I did this lots while out group was making ideas for the spring exhibition.
Driving question;
I think I’m ready for Grade 12 for 3 reasons.
- I passed all my classes so I’m academically ready for next year.
- I completed my vision, mission, and values showing that I’m mature, responsible and ready enough for grade 12.
- Finally I think I’m ready because I succeeded in grade 11 with both my grades and my learning habits that grew and ready to learn more in grade 12.
However I will not be doing grade 12 with PLP. For multiple reasons. I think doing regular school in socials and English will expand my learning horizons and further strengthen my learning to prepare me for University. I also think I would be rewarded more for the work I’m putting in in regular school rather than PLP. I also like the grading system of regular school more because it’s more accurate rather than every 10% and they also tell you exactly how to get that 100% rather than just telling you to be more engaged in class and being more creative. I think regular school suits me more and I wish I noticed that earlier. Me and lots of other students noticed how lots of PLP teachers were using chat gpt to make our assignments and especially our plan for while we were home instead of in Haida Gwaii. We also realized those teachers used it to plan the exhibition and make presentations. I understand the use of AI to help grow your work but if you just copy and paste it to make my learning plan and my assignments then it’s hard for me to respect the program and want to try my hardest in those assignments when the teachers aren’t using their own work to make those assignments. Me and lots of my friends who are both leaving and staying in PLP feel the same way about PLP and think that stuff should change.
I have nothing against PLP and I liked most of the time I was there but I think its time for a change in my learning pathway.
