Tpol- a fitting ending to a wonderful 2 years

Hello everyone, as you may have seen, this is my last project with PLP. Thanks for these 2 years:

Declaration of learning(?):

“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”

DQ: Why do you feel you are ready to advance to the next grade level?

Here’s some prompt questions that I think give context to the subject reflections.

Of the work you completed so far this year, what are you least proud of? Why?

My poem from full steam ahead. Poetry is something that’s never come naturally to me, but I think it would be a good stretch for me to work on.

What project did you struggle with? Why?

I struggled most with reflections in the second term this year. My blog posts were short and less descriptive than last term, and I attribute this to my general dislike for Humanities, whereas last term I got to write about science and Maker.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned so far year? What did you find most boring? What was the difference between the two experiences?

The Confederation project was the most interesting thing to me from this term. I liked it because I felt like the class discussion was really productive and I liked participating in it. Also, my group work with cameron was really fun and I think our final product was a good result of both of our skill sets.

The full steam ahead project was the least interesting thing to me from this term. I struggle at writing about literature and especially poetry, and I think it was less interesting to me because I’m just not as good at it.

My answer to the driving question is in the next part which shows my improvement over the course of this school year by comparing the differences between them.

  1. Geography of the west: This project was probably my least favourite because history is one of my stretches. Here are some things I show in this project:

Poor work ethic: most of my assignments were completed late or without good use of my time, and I didn’t utilize all my time on the bus during the field school.

Procrastinating: once I don’t  finish an assignment in the allotted class time, I continue to put it off for a while.

Bad mindset: I think I internally envisioned this project as boring history/geography before we started it and entered it with a bad mindset.

VS

2.  Confederation project (I called confederation station) I liked this this project because of the big class discussions and the final product was really fun to make. Here are some things I show in this project:

Good (better?) work ethic: My assignments were completed on time (mostly) and I used (most of) my class time efficiently.

Not procrastinating: As i said, I used my class time efficiently and especially during the final keystone Cameron and I were on track the whole time.

Good mindset: I didn’t have any particular thoughts about this project before starting it, since it was a new subject, but early on I could tell it would be pretty enjoyable so I think that’s what helped me get to the end.

I think this comparison was a good way to showcase my growth as a learner over this past year. It highlights things I said in my mpol too, and things that have changed between then and now, and that is really important to my reflection.

These are usually longer for me but I only have one PLP subject right now and I think this post answers the driving question well by itself.

This will be my last post in PLP, so thank you for listening, and have a nice day (:
