Can I Create An Authoritarian Dictatorship?

Hello, It has been a really long time since I have writen here. It’s been so long that im in my final year of high school.

Anyway let’s look into what my class has been doing for the last month or so. We have been looking into Authoritarian Dictatorships and making are own one. In groups we have given a speech each to our class from the position of either a Democrat or a Dictator.  I was the Democrat, I ll go a head and say it’s not my favourite project. I found this topic and product very uninteresting and not super useful. Anyway let jump into my reflection

So the first part of this project was a slide show me and my partner Nathan. We chose to do a made up country. This country was call Jãvagua, Nathan came up with it and I really liked the idea. This Caribbean country governed by a dictator and filled with revolution. For the slide show it had to be a sort of guide or story on how we became dictators using the knowledge we have built. We put it in a sort of windows for dummies guide style. I was really happy with this as I found the design very fitting for the topic. The guide itself was very satiric, with most groups using a lot of satire as it was hard not to given the topic and medium. All things considered I think our presentation went really well.

Now onto the speechs, I was suprised with my speech as it went better than I thought it would. I am really bad at speaking to crowds though I have gotten better over the last year. I used to be really unfortable and scared of these sorts of things due to past social and anxiety issues. However I have gotten way better, I also didnt use a script. Just lines and prompts so I could use my own head to make the rest. I tend to shake when trying to read from a script so it’s better for me to go off the top of my head. Either way I didnt think my prompts were good enough and I had ran out of time to change them. However they flowed really well, I was worried how the parrallel structure would sound and it actually sounded really smooth. Overall I couldnt have been happier with my speech. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t bad either it was a decent speech and I am proud of that.

Onto the learning targets, I believe that I hit of these targets this project.

  1. Listening and speaking to a variety of audiences.

I did freakishly well on this target. Normally im a very shy scared as a said before, this time I was confident and proud when speaking and felt like I did a great job at getting my point across with emotion and rationality.

2)   Collective identity is constructed and can change over time.

This one wasn’t bad either, I wouldn’t say my collective identity changed that much. I am now more informed on the politcal world around me for sure. My political view hasn’t changed im still very strongly in the middle of the spectrum, leaning to either side depending of the world.

4) justify narratives and arguments using different perspectives as sources and review of worldview, active listening, political, social, economics, the West, formulating questions, persuasion

This one is less of a target and more of a general reflection about what I did in this project. I really learned a lot from this project and had a great time doing all of these things above. I grew my world view more and realized and learned a lot about how the Eastern side of the world works.

In Conclusion I have really grown my world view over these last couple weeks. I understand people on the other sides of the political spectrum much more now than before. I have really  grown and can’t wait till next week to launch are Feminism In Dystopia project with Mrs Willemse. I thank you all from reading and hope you have a wonderful day

Bye Bye
