🍏 Healthy Ever After
How do you maintain a healthy well-being? Most people that I’ve known have been very concerned about keeping healthy, eating a specific diet, and having a specific routine. This assignment that we have been doing for the past few weeks has been very different from our previous projects so far. Mainly because this was not a project. This was a challenge based learning, which meant that we had a specific schedule to follow, and a shorter amount of time to work on the final product. It was very challenging (see what I did there?) to keep up with the work load in such a short amount of time, but I managed to pull through.Â
My main focus for this assignment was mental health. Specifically about the importance of mental check-ins. We were told to convey our information in the form of a video, so to do that, we had to plan ahead. To make this easier for us, our teachers gave us a workbook to fill in, with our big ideas, essential questions, and other things we needed to know. I did a lot of going back and forth between boxes, editing, scrapping, and completely changing several things many times. Filling in this workbook really helped me see what information I was lacking, and helped me make up for the blanks. It also showed me exactly what I needed to research to use as my supporting evidence for my video.Â
Now that I had the information I needed, creating the video was the easy part. What was not easy was having only two days to put together my video. Writing the script was definitely the easiest part, because I had all the information I needed, I just needed to put it all together.

The filming was very painstaking because I had to refill every time I messed up, and I had to make sure I didn’t look stupid in the clips. But editing was definitely the most difficult part of this challenge. Half of my video was in the form of a voice over, which meant that I had to provide the visual effects. Timing, cropping, and moving around visual and audio clips took a painfully long time, but I think it was worth it because I’m quite proud of my final product.Â
Overall, I think that this project helped me take a look at my relationship with my mental health, and gain an understanding of my emotions and habits. I also had to really put my time management skills to use, which is very good practice for our Florida field study trip. I hope that my audience feels that they learned something from my video, and find mental check-ins to be as important as I do.Â
