The dropping of the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were one of the most catastrophic events in our history. Over 200 thousand lives were lost.

For our first project of the year we are looking into the events of the Manhattan project. Now I already have some previous knowledge about the Manhattan project from what my dad has told me and also half watching Oppenheimer on an airplane. 

To start off our project we had to create a Zettlecastent of an event to do with the Manhattan project. I decided to do a slightly controversial topic; “were the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki justified?” Even after doing a lot of research it was too hard to side with one or the other. The main article that I read provided very interesting insight as it had views from multiple different historians which showed both agreement and disagreement. The second thing we did was start reading a short story about Hiroshima written by John Hersay. It tells the story of some of the survivors of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

Now the events of the atomic bomb didn’t just affect Japan but it also affected the rest of the world. That day the race for nuclear capability began, which affects politics up to this day.In this project I have made some goals for myself. Such as trying to acctually hand things in on time. But I also want to extend my animation abilities for the final project. And with the final project I would also like to make something high quality that I put my full effort into. I am also excited to read and maybe watch movies about the events of the Manhattan project.
