Me, as a learner

For this post I will be explaining why I think I am ready to advance to the next grade level. My learning is a very large topic, it has many sides look at and it’s hard to figure out where to start. Anyways, here goes nothing.
To start with let’s look at the things I am most proud of. During the year I have done lots of great work but here are some of the things I am most proud of. The first thing I am very proud of is destination imagination. If you look at some of my older posts you can see my team and I not doing so well. Destination imagination for me wasn’t about how well we did. For me what was really amazing was being put in a team with people that you really didn’t know that well and bonding with them. Being able to create a great team that’s capable of great things. And end up being friends and a productive team. D.I. is also a great example of revision, over several drafts of our presentation we went from having a short, mediocre presentation to a long, engaging and exciting performance. our performance got better and better. Another thing that I am extremely proud of is blue sky. I believe blue sky is an artifact that shows I am ready for grade nine. During the blue sky project I had great work ethic, work habits and through my hard work I came out with a great result. Throughout all of blue sky I was organized and when the exhibition came I did a great job. I was able to answer any question and had lots of material to show the audience.

Now let’s talk about my growth as a learner throughout the year. In humanities and maker my blog does a very good job of showing this. At the beginning of the year my blog posts were very short and often struggled to fully explain the topic. They also had many grammatical flaws and weren’t that engaging. If we jump to around the middle of the year (December- January) my blogs were more interesting and explanatory but they still weren’t quite up to par. If you look at my blogs now they do a good job of explaining the whole topic and they show lots of multimedia and have little grammar flaws. My blogs show how I have progressed as a writer, creator and editor through out the year and how I am ready for grade nine so I can continue improving. For Scimathics you can see my improvement by looking at the work I have completed. At the beginning of the year I commonly forgot to show my work and I didn’t know any of the formulas or equations. Now at the end of the year I know lots more about physics and I almost always show my work.

Next let’s look at where I need to improve. I pretty much still need to improve everywhere. One things in particular that I need to improve on is my attention span. I feel I need to improve on this because occasionally I miss an instruction and then I get behind because I didn’t know what to do. The next things I need to improve is are my video skills. I’m good at editing images and writing but I do not have great video skills at all.

Throughout this year I have come so far in my learning with PLP. I feel that if I wasn’t in PLP I wouldn’t have learned half as much as I have this year. My learning has been full of great experiences, field studies, in class work and in depth meaningful learning this year and I greatly look forward to continuing it next year with the PLP program.
