Introduction:

“Mr./Ms. (teacher’s name), this is my mother/father (say your parent’s name)”.

“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”

I think there are many reasons that I should advance to the next grade. I feel I have grown so much this year and understand myself much better. I have grown in both my schoolwork and myself as a human of this Earth. I think I have become a more curious and passionate person this year. I think this skill will help me in future in our next projects.  

These are the competences above, but I will only talk about the ones I think are notable or have impacted me heavily this year. 

Communicating:

I believe recently I’ve been a lot better at communicating my honest thoughts to people. I have gotten way better at asking for feedback like in Juno Beach, where I had to go through many drafts and different feedback on each drafts. I also felt I have contributed way more in class than before and raised my hand to contribute especially in Humanities class. Moreover, due to my new level of confidence that I have gain this year, I want to aim to continue this competence next year and become 100% confidant in myself. 

Critical and Reflective Thinking:

I think that I have become much better at critical and reflective thinking this year. This through my Lies and Incongruence and Marketing You. For Lies and Incongruence, where I had to reflect and think critical on Indigenous issues such as Residential School and Inter generational trauma with research included. For Marketing You, I had think about what skills that I have would be useful for a business. Moreover, I had think about when I struggled and how overcame at my own job. Moreover, I hope to grow this skill in the summer by delving into topic that I’m interested in. 

Humanities: 

I shall just go right into it and try to summarize everything as quickly as possible. For strength I feel I am able to delve deeper into the main topic and put great effort in my work. However, I wanted to communicate my thoughts more in class and contribute more into discussion. Moreover, I said that I will need to make sure that I push myself to talk more in class and stop getting distracted. 

Save Juno Beach:

Save Juno Beach was centred around a WW2 beach on the coast of Normandy that was involved in D-Day. I learned so much about WW2 and contributed to the discussion. This is through raising my hand more often to answer questions the teacher asks to the class. I also often asked for feedback on my essays concerning Juno Beach. I think this helped me be able to communicate better with others and be more open for criticism. 

Lies and Congruencies:

For Lies and Congruences I think I did an amazing job at both delving into a topic and ask for feedback. This is through doing deep research into Indigenous issues and through this gaining a deep understanding of the topic of this project. Moreover, I really wanted a good grade in Humanities thus, I asked for teacher feedback multiple times in this project which helped me to end up with a better final result and a lot of muscle emojis!

Maker:

For Maker, I said my strength is to be able to compromise with others and and onto pre-existing ideas. However, I felt that I needed the pay attention more to instructions and focus more on the technical aspects of Maker. Moreover, I said that I needed support myself by create it strategies in order to focus more in class and actively incorporate technical skills into my learning. 

Using Design to Influence Others’ Lives:

For this part of the project we were suppose to create a podcast trailer. I think I utilized many technical skills such as using GarageBand and creating a funky tune through peer feedback and my experience in band plus choir. 

Using the Reflective Process of Design:

I’m honestly very proud of the work I have do in this project. I used many technical skills by using GarageBand and got to utilize my editing skills to make a fun and an engaging podcast. I also did a lot research on a topic I really enjoyed, for context this podcast is about the development of English. Creating this podcast was so so much fun and I think it really brought the curious side of myself. I can tell you that I learned so much on how the language of English became what it is today.  

PGP:

For PGP, I said that I did not know my strength for this class yet since I haven’t done it yet, I stand by this and still feel this since in my opinion, careers tackle so many different parts of the future that it’s hard to have a strength that help you through the entirety of careers. For growth I said that I wanted to improve on making concrete plans for the future. Moreover, I said that I wanted assist from my teacher for this new type of learning. 

Marketing You:

For Marketing You, I did an amazing job at both planning future and preparing for future employment. This is through planning for the courses I need in high school and preparing Cover letters, business cards and resumes for future employment. I appreciate this quite a lot since it prepares me for both employment and my future out of high school. 

Finances:     

For finances, we learned about the stuff that makes the world go round, money. This project taught me to better keep track of money and how to correctly spend my money. This is especially useful for me since I currently am employed and not sure how to much I should spend and how much I should spend. 

Goals for next Year:

I have gain so many skill this year that I would like to developed to next year. For next year I want to becomes a more confidant person in my social life and face my issues in relationships more straight forwardly. This would help me in my Social Awareness and Responsibility core competence. I would also want to focus on completing personal goals throughout the year such as gaining good work habits and learning about subject I find interest in. This would connect to my Personal Awareness and Responsibility Competence. 

Conclusion: 

In conclusion, I fully believe that I am ready to go to the next year. I feel I have grown so much as a person this year and am now fully ready to go to the next stage of my life.
