5 Trend Videos/TikTok!🕰️

Our recent project in Maker involved creating 5 trend videos, similar to those seen on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels (short videos usually under a minute). The process was enjoyable, so I’m going to take you through the steps I took to create my videos and showcase the final outcome. To begin with, we designed our personal productivity systems by following a few steps. First, we had to eliminate and organize all the junk in our actual lives by cleaning our room and desk and all that. After that, we focused on clearing out and organizing the junk on our devices, such as our email inbox, photos, and making sure our calendar is up to date. That’s going to help us stay organized for this project and projects from now on.

After completing the organization process, we proceeded to plan our trend videos. This included developing storyboards and a template that we needed to complete, indicating the video’s topic, people, title, and inspiration.

We created one storyboard and filled out one template for each video. Although my idea notes turned out well, my templates could have been a lot better. I could’ve went more into detail with the general statements for the viewers better understanding. When you watch the videos you’re going to be able to see how different they turned out from these notes, and how many times I had to adapt to little inconveniences.

Following the planning phase, we developed prototype videos or drafts, which demonstrated what our final videos would look like. This involved filming and editing the drafts, using tools like green screens or random objects as placeholders for missing things, we even had to use our iPads with pictures of what we meant to have. Not all the drafts were the same as the Final Cut, but for sure had the main concept.

Once we completed the drafts, we went on a field study to Orlando, if you want to learn about what we were doing there check out my last post everything you need to know is there. There, we shot our final 5 trend videos, but due to scheduling and activity changes, some of my drafts did not end up happening at all. In this situation Erik got very sick and missed a few days, and one of the dinners turned out to be not prepaid like everything else. In that case some of my videos couldn’t be filmed. Instead I altered some of my concepts, and began editing. And with two of my videos I had to come up with when I was already back home, only having lots of footage from the trip to work with. That’s not saying I made bad videos, it’s to show that I managed to adapt to problems and still come up with something cool, definitely challenged my critical thinking skills. Here is what my final videos ended up looking like:
