Friday, December 14th

Today in class:

-students wrote a journal.  Optional topic: what elements make for the perfect winter holiday?

-we discussed the short stories “Louisa” & “Charles”

-we began our Winter Assignment. Write a short story of your own.  It must be no longer than 3 pages (typed, double-spaced and 12pt font).

-your story must include the following winter elements:

  • Square Dancing
  • Snow Person
  • Down hill skiing
  • Egg Nog
  • Candy Cane

-we will work on this on Tuesday in class and be in the library on the computers typing it up on Thursday of next week.

Homework:

-please bring food for food drive.

Monday, December 10

In class today:

-we Marked Lesson 73, 74 and 75

-we read the story “Louisa, Please come home.”

-in our table groups we discussed a character, their motivation and what they thought Louisa would do next.

Homework:

-please bring canned food etc. to class.

Tuesday, December 4

Today:

-we discussed the meaning of interpretative literature.

-we read the short story “Totem” by Thomas King

-working in groups we summarized the story together.

-we then re-discussed interpretative literature and worked in our groups to analyze the story again.

-we then went through the story again.

Homework:

Complete up to and including Lesson 76 in class.
