How can I engage and entertain an audience using my video and storytelling skills?

Introduction

The your first film project was all about using our filming skill and editing skills to create a documentary. Before doing this project, I was extremely anxious on how on Earth I would get all the footage in order to make a documentary. However, creating documentary was as challenging as I thought, the end result was worth it thought.

Recording an Interview

The interview were our first step in creating a fully formed video. For this interview we were put into groups and created questions concerning a topic we were all interested in. This topic we chose was about music. For this interview I think I did a wonderful job at getting a good angle of my interviewee. However, I could of improved on having better lighting in my video. Overall, I think I did a fantastic job at the interview.

Screenplay

For the screenplay, I believe I was able to create a detailed and consistent written form of a documentary. Our screenplay was our total plan for how we would create our documentaries. If I were going to do this part of the project again I would make sure to make the shot easier for me to take. However, I think did an amazing job at creating detailed plan for my documentary. Overall, I believe this step helped me to visualize my final video.

Storyboard

Our Storyboard, helped us figure out how our documentary would actual look and what type of angels we would take for our documentary. If I were going to do this storyboard again I would make sure to make it more simply and easier for people who have don’t know anything about my documentary to understand. However, I believe I did a great job at creating a detailed outline of what I wanted my film to look like. Overall, this part of the project was a key step in creating my film.

Final Film

My final film did not go as planned however, ended up being okay film at the end. This is due to difficulty including an interview in my film. Additionally, I had to change multiple of the shots I planned on getting due to it not being possible to get those shots or those shots not worth getting due to the time I would of spent trying to get those shots. However, I think I have a great deal of amazing shots in my film and the soundtrack can sound great at some parts of my film. Overall, this documentary isn’t my best work but, crucial for me learning editing and how to create a film.

Conclusion

Overall, editing, music, shots and writing is the key to engage an audience. This documentary taught me how hard it is to create a film and how every part of the filming process really counts. I will use the skills I learned in this project in all projects having to do with filming in my life. In general, this project enlightened me to how to film.
