Mpol blog post🤪

Hello and welcome to my Mpol blog post. In this post, I’ll be going over my growth as a learner throughout grade 9, some of my strengths, some of my weaknesses, and more.

Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

I believe that my growth as a learner has come a long way even since September. At the beginning of the school year, I was having a really difficult time with school and it took lots of time and hard work to complete even a single paragraph. In the past few months, I’ve come a long way with being able to focus on school-related tasks and writing. I think my main struggle as a learner is trying to focus on schoolwork when it’s not interesting to me which results in extreme procrastination. I definitely still struggle with this and it’s definitely the most challenging barricade in the way of success as a learner.

I find I struggle with this problem in Scimatics a lot, as math and science aren’t topics I feel particularly intrigued by which makes it difficult to stay on task and maintain interest in our projects. The competency of maintaining curiosity in our work is one that I definitely struggle with and I try to be proactive by setting specific focus modes on my iPad, having specific times to do homework, and attending LAC in semester 1.

Another problem I face is constantly comparing my work to my peers or other unrealistic standards for me. I know that the work I do will be different and individual from others but I feel a need to compare my work even when it’s unnecessary.

Some of my work that I’m most proud of this year is my letter sent to Murray Rankin, the Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation regarding clean drinking water in Indigenous communities in BC. This was a great opportunity to think critically about the world around me and to build up my persuasive writing skills.

Another project that I’m proud of is Revolutions on Trial. I ended up doing a large portion of that project for my group which helped me develop leadership skills. I think even though the group wasn’t optimal the argument my team and I developed was very impressive and I was able to develop my argumentative and persuasive writing skills even further in this project.

Overall I think this year has really been a strange year for me. I’ve had more failures than any previous grade but it’s really helped me develop and grow as a learner. I’m glad that I’ve had this opportunity to deal with failure and even make work that I can take pride in. Thank you for reading this blog post on my learning in PLP.

Sincerely, Me
