Get Ready to Reflect!

Here are the driving questions for this blog post:

  1. How have I demonstrated growth as a learner so far this year?
  2. How can I sharpen my Learning Plan to ensure I will reach my learning targets by the end off this school year?

So there’s this thing called an “mPOL” which stands for “Mid-Term Presentation of Learning”, A.K.A., the source of my stress!!

We all start somewhere, so I will show you where we started! You may not have heard of these apps, but all of P.L.P. has heard these words enough times per day to support a lifetime! “Basecamp” and “Showbie

This is Showbie! Since we do everything on an iPad, we need to submit everything on an iPad too! Showbie tells you when something is due, which, is really useful if your forgettable 🙂 It also tells you (and the teachers) if you handed something in late, which of course, is not as useful (lol)

Aaaaand this is Basecamp! Basecamp is where the teachers post all the information for each assignment, it’s also where us, the students go if we’ve forgotten something (or weren’t paying attention when they were explaining it during class, which is a common case for me XD)

Humanities

Humanities is kinda a mix of socials, and English! I think we’ve done about three projects on Humanities,
The Medium is the MessageThe Outsiders, and Working With Words.

The Medium is the Message (the first Humanities project):

The Medium is the Message Was a project about advertising. We got into teams and made an actual ad for an actual company! My team got the Deep Cove Heritage Society! The Deep Cove Heritage Society is a company that was trying to sell photos, stories, etc based off of Deep Coves’ history. Our job was to advertise that for them!

First I made an individual ad:

And then my team and I made a group ad:

Not bad… but doesn’t look to much like an ad, just like the individual ad that I made. I feel like it would look a little better if we had made it in a different program (we made it in Canva).

Working With Words (the last Humanities project)

I don’t want this blog post to be a mile long, so i’m just gonna skip to the most recent project, Working with words! Working with words was a project about the art of poetry. Over the three weeks of working on this project, we created nine worldview poems!

You can read my Poems by clicking on this link:

My Morldview Poems

Honestly… I kinda hate all of my poems, they sound more like stories than poems!

Maker!

Maker and Humanities are very closely related in my opinion. Maker is pretty much the same as Humanities, except for the fact that maker I more… well… maker! You know! You make stuff! We had 4 Maker projects last term, Becoming a PLP Learner, Constructing Creative Communication (there’s two blog posts for this project, in the power vested in me, I pronounce you… a photographer!!, and grab your pencils, lets draw!) Destination Imagination (haven’t made a blog post for that one yet), and Geek Out Blog Challenge (there are multiple blog post for this one)!

Let’s talk about Becoming a PLP Learner!

This project was about, well, becoming a PLP learner! This project basically settled us in, got us used to working with the iPad and technology in general!

Here’s an image of my Memoji Laptop:

I definitely could have made a better blog post talking about my Memoji laptop!

Geek Out Blog Challenge!

So this one was fairly easy for me, not only am I a fast writer, but I also enjoy making blog posts, therefore, it was also pretty enjoyable :)) all we had to do for this one was write about a hobby, or something you like! I wrote about fursuits (of course)! You can find all of my blog posts on my blog :O

if im being completely honest, I don’t think I have anything to improve on for this project

Sciematics!

I know that the word “Sciematics” sounds really fancy, but its just a mix of mathematics and science :))

So far, we’ve done 3 assignment (coming on four!) Fractions Of Your Time (haven’t made a blog post for that one yet), Tectonic Chances, and Laser Laws (still working on the blog post for this one)!

Let’s talk about Fractions Of Your Time!

So basically this project was about tracking your time! It’s a simple as that! In numbers, we made graphs and stuffs with the amount of time we spent on something as decimal points! I had a “hack” to make tracking my time easier, I had screen time :D) after we finished the graph, we had to present it!

Here’s an image of the graph that I ended up with:

The graph looks great in my opinion, although, I should have been a lot more prepared for the presentation, I didn’t really know what to say at some points!

Laser Laws!

This project was mostly about Triangles (or more specifically, right triangles) and lasers! I had a lot of fun with this project. So I was put into a team of four and we built a triangle using just guidelines, mirrors, and a laser!

Here’s what ours’ ended up looking like:

Pretty cool right? I think I should have helped me team a little more than I did though…

And now to answer the driving questions!!

How have I demonstrated growth as a learner so far this year?

At the very beginning of the year, I was a mess in many ways, even one of my teachers said so (very lovingly of course!), I’ve been able to get most of my work in on time, I’ve been able to manage my time much better than before, most of the ways I’ve improved are through time and organization.

How can I sharpen my Learning Plan to ensure I will reach my learning targets by the end off this school year?

I could make my goals higher and a little less achievable, so that I will try higher and end up where I actually want to be
