Another year, another tPOL

Hello and welcome or welcome back to my blog. It’s that time of year again. Yes, the one where we right extremely long blog posts picking apart my entire years work. Welcome to the tPOL of 2023. Dun dun dunnnnnnnn. As usual, the tPOL declaration thing must be said.

“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am an expert in my own learning, I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

Whew. Now that that’s over let’s take a look back at the year.
Growth within courses
Whelp, looking back, my growth within specific courses hasn’t been much, but still existed. Because humanities was the only course we had this semester, a lot of the growth that I witnessed this semester was done within the humanities course. I have grown more with my work ethic, as well as acknowledging when I need a longer deadline, or when I am on track with my work.

Work ethic and procrastination
My work ethic can be a little funky at times. Sometimes I am able to get stuff done, plan out the steps for me to complete my work, and follow through with getting my work done. The best example I have of this was our most recent humanities project, where I had the steps planned out, and I acted on them, wich allowed me to complete everything on time and have a completed project for the spring exhibition. There are times where my work ethic has come back to bite me, the best example (wich has been shared before) where I forgot to work on my video for maker and I ended up trying to finish the project on the floor of the exhibition.

Learning portfolio
Humanities
Start of the year: accomplished
End of year: extending
I think that my goal of accomplished form the start of the year was me doubting myself, because I think that my more recent work has shown that if I really put my mind to it then I can actually get things done. A solution to my procrastination has been laying out the steps I need to complete the project. The satisfaction of checking something off of my list has been worth it for putting the work in. This has lead me to be more productive then ever during the last few projects. Even if I have not stuck to my original solutions on my learning plan, I think that the solutions I have found are more helpful than the ones that I have originally planned out.

Maker
Start of the year: accomplished
End of year: accomplished
I think that this was a realistic goal that I set for maker, because at the start of the year I was still trying to find out solutions to my procrastination problem, and the solutions really started to help during the second semester. Maker was full of group projects, wich was beneficial to me because of my repetitive tendency to work better in groups. With the solo projects, my grades looked worse, with many more late symbols. I think that if I had the confidence to ask for an extension or more support, I could have had more success this year. I think that this grade is still accurate becuase not only did I turn things in late, my quality of work overall was just not up to my standard, and I think I could have done a lot better overall.

Science
Start of the year: accomplished
End of year: accomplished
I think that my start of year goal is still accurate, because even though a lot of my work was turned in on time, it was not up to my preferred standard, and I think I could have done a lot more if I didn’t rush my work or do it carelessly. I think that the best example of my work for science would be my exciting electricity project, because I got a ton of work done, and it was very interesting.

Top three projects I think I showed the most improvement on

dulche et decorum est

exciting electricity

building a nation

if you have made it this far, thank you and good day.
