To start things off, I’m going to be talking about some of the projects that we have done this school year, we have done peas in a pod cast, Ology of apology, swipe right for a tragedy which we preformed yesterday, the mentor for a day podcast, our Regional Destination Imagination, financing your future, atomic habits artifact, and tech tool box, I will explain some more about them in this presentation of my learning 

The latest projects that I have done to date is the swipe right for a tragedy, for this project we had to read romeo and Juliet, thankfully we weren’t made to read the entire book, but we did read a lot of the Scenes and act 1 through 5, I thought the book was a really nice read, it wasn’t that bad and we all got to do some acting we got roles at the beginning of the class for the characters in that scene and we put all of our chairs in to the centre and role played for the entire class, after we had finished reading we were taught what a parody is and once every one had gotten refreshed on that we got to start writing the modernized play, some people got different roles like some one got to be the main DRI and every other act had there own DRI and 3-5 writers working for two classes to make the script, I was in charge of act 3 scene 4 and 5, once most people had finished writing there scripts we all had a table reading to see if there was any continuity errors and to polish some of them up, after that we were only able to practice the complete script 2 times before we had to present, some of the days I came in to tutorial to help out the Romeo of the script, every one got assigned There own role from then on and yesterday day we got to present it and I have to say it was way better then the first group and they had a lot of time to practice, if I could improve on this project I would of made some of the script that I made a little clearer and shortened it to make it quicker because it was 4 mins long and we only have 30 mins in total to do the play.

Was the mentor for a day podcast, I think my father knows a little bit about this but we had to reach out to some one or a work place that we were interested in doing there profession so i got my dad to help me reach out to a company called Roman Metal works, because I want to be a metal worker and that’s what i talk about in the pod cast, so with the mentor that i needed I had to form some questions that i would ask some one there and put a recording of that in to my podcast, I got to interview the owner of the company and i asked questions like what is the hourly pay for a metal worker, what does he specialize in making, and if he had any tips for any one trying to start a Career in metal work and he said that the first two years are a little boring and you will only get to start doing fun projects after those two years so the company can get to see what your good at, with the recording of the questions I had to make the actual pod cast so I put some extra recordings about why i want to be a metal worker and the questions that I asked them, I also integrated some sound effects, if I could of changed anything i would of made it a little shorter because its around 7 mins which is the maximum but besides that i had an awesome time making the pod cast, 

This project isn’t that resent but its a good one, in maker we had to do a “tech tool box” and for this we had to show off some of our tech skills that we bring to the table because we have been in plp for 3 years now, we had a week to complete this, the skill that I showed off was my photo editing skills in photoshop here is the final project,

Another fun project that we had done Recently was the financing your future project and in this project I did miss a little because I was away with my family on a trip, but when we got back i got straight in to the project, and something i want expecting is that we would get to do a stock simulator in school, I did join that a little late but after the first day i was in 15th spot, i think some one said that there was a huge stock crash three days before so that’s why some people didn’t have a lot of money left even tho we started out with 10,000 and we got experiment with a real time simulator, and from that i found out that stocks are basically just gambling but over a longer period of time, after that we got assigned topics that we would have to present about in-front of half of The class, every one already got in to groups of two so I had to do it by myself 🙁 but I was gone for the start of the project so I guess that’s fare, the topic I was assigned was the ups and downs of credit cards, so I asserted to research that and make some slides for my presentation and i had finished my presentation the day before i had to present and when the presentation day came around there was a snow day ❄️, so i got to present three days later, and when I was presenting it was a little scary because I haven’t presented a project in-front of that many people since grade 7 but i still had to do it and i think my whole presentation was around 6-7 mins, and if i could change anything about my presentation is that I would of put more graphics on my slides and shown more of the benefits that certain cards give, 

This is my VMV of what i want to accomplish over the rest of the school year, I also have a copy of this on the main entrance to my house so that I’m always reminded about it, 

Di 2025 1/2 post

For the 2025 provincial destination imagination Tournament I got the science project and for it we have to make a story of space explorers going to a new planet and the twist is that there not alone on the planet and in that story we have to integrate two technical elements we chose to do elephant toothpaste and slides that come out of our technobabble Depicter   the elephant tooth paste was a little week so for the next DI we are getting 20 percent hydrogen peroxide which will make the experiment a lot more volatile and make it expand more which hopefully will wow the judges. The whole thing was a roller coaster, both the performance and our emotions in making the play and preforming, Now I can’t really say a lot more about how we came up with our solution or our story but In the next post ill post a video of out performance but here are some pictures of our equipment and our play

Ology Of apology

For this project I was away for the first half so i only had two weeks to start making the big picture but thankfully it was a group project and for the project we had to make a memorial of three events that happend in Canada, the Chinese head tax, komagata Maru, and Japanese interment, after i got that news I had to start reading a book called obasan and i had to get to chapter 25 in three days 😱, thankfully i was able to complete that task with flying colours, after i finished reading the book I started to get put in to my groups and i got assigned the project of making a memorial on the Komagata Maru, at the time i still didn’t know a crazy amount on it but i did know some facts n because i did a project on it in grade 4. once i had remembered what the Komagata Maru my group and I started to plan out how we we going to make the memorial and were it would go if it was made in reality, once we had a plan and a blue print on how it would look we went up to the teacher to get a final check so we could go out and get supply’s to make a small scale version of it after we had made it we got the other half of the PLP class to come and do a sort of gallery walk then they had to fill out ballots saying what they learned and what they really liked about the presentation,

Winter exhibition 2024

Another year another exhibition, the 2024 winter exhibition To be exact! 

For this exhibition we had to do a project called marketing me, for this project which we turned in to our winter exhibition project we had to make a resume, a business card and show off who we are as a learner and as a person.

For my resume I had chosen to use the app Canva which I think might be the last app i have to mention On my website, back on track I chose a tan background so its easy on the eyes to read since there would be almost only adults reading this, I put some interesting things about my self, some past work Experiences and some of my skills, for example it takes a long time for me to burn out so i could work for hours with out any problem, past work I had done was during the summer of 2024 I worked for a company called sentinel glass down in Langley, they needed an office renovated and I had to put in a bunch of dry wall and make some heading for a project they had going on, some other work i did was in 2023 I did some work for a kitchen show room in gas town it was called kI atelier so sometimes they host events for investors and I was the dishwasher with one of my friends.

 that’s just what was on my resume I also had a business card to go with it, it had a red background and my initials LM (for Logan Muller) and a pair of sports rackets behind it to show that I’m a very active person both in the job site and out of it

When some one came to my table they would stop by my table mate first then they would go to my side next and I would just talk about the stuff on my table I would tell them about what I want to do for my career then I point to my vest my helmet and then some bolts that my friend gave me as decoration, I point to my resume talk about what I did before construction ( I was a dishwasher), then i say thank you for coming to my exhibition, and then they leave.

Atomic habits blog post on artifact

Hello and welcome back to my blog if you don’t know already my name is Logan muller and this is my artifact On the book atomic habits written by James Clear,

So for this project i was tasked with reading a book on making habits and changing good or bad habits you may already have, the driving question that was given to this project was How can small changes in my habits shape my success this year, and beyond? At first i had no idea what to expect from This book, and at first i had thought that it was a little boring, but day after day i would keep on reading the book there were 22 chapters in the book and by the end of week one i was at 13, i was so hooked with the different techniques that James clear talks about like habit stacking were you add on new habits to habits that you already do in your daily life like during water after making a cup of coffee, or doing some push ups after you wake up, another way to make new habits is the two minute rule were if the habit takes more then two mins then you do it last so you do all of the small things in the day first then all of the long and boring things like folding your clothing or vacuuming,

The way that he speaks in this book is so good and he tells you a little bit about him self and other people who used habits to better there lives, even i am using habits from the book the habit stacking rule is really good, so i get home take off my shoes take a shower then i play the piano, those are some of the habits that i stacked on to getting home after school and it really did help a lot, even my parents noticed it, 

But besides all of that habit talk, we were tasked with making a artifact, what is an artifact you might ask, well it is something that you make on your understanding of something. Like for this project i made a advertisement style video on the book and what it can help with, it also has to connect with you Jin some sort of way and in January I’m being tasked by the company that I work for to make and add video, if you would like to watch it, i put it at the end of this post

Why the world needs more Canada, post

Have you ever wondered, how is Canada such a nice place, well so did the grade 10 class of PLP!!!

And I’m here to tell you what I discovered on why the world needs more Canada, I’m going to go through my learnings and what i made to show what i learned.

This project was the first one that i had to make a pod cast for, and i got to do it on why the world needs more Canada, when i was thinking of the subject that the teachers gave us (why the world needs more Canada) i had thought of it more like why the world needs to be more like Canada, and with that in mind the topic i chose with why the world needs more Canada is the importance of immigrants, the reason that immigrants are a big part of Canada is because The do almost 40 percent of all jobs in Canada, and every immigrant is accepted for who they are the second they get to Canada i know this because Both of my parents were immigrant who had spent most of there lives in Mexico, and in there words “we had a welcoming embrace the second we stepped out of our plane”,

Here is some more evidence that i had found on the subject of immigration.

According to the 2021 census, individuals in Canada reported over 250 different ethnic origins, reflecting the country’s rich history of immigration and its role as a global melting pot. More than 8 million Canadians identify as members of visible minority groups, accounting for over 23% of the total population, and this number is expected to continue growing in the coming years.

That is just a small bit of the information that i found for this project, if you would like to hear the rest of it check out my classes podcasts, there are a total of 48 episodes on different parts of what make Canada, well great that’s the only real way to put it.

We also had to put one piece of Canadian literature in our pod cast so i took a quote from a book called A Fine Balance, written by Rohinton Mistry, the quote that I used was “You have to maintain a fine balance between hope and despair… In the end, it’s all a question of balance.”  And This reflects Canada’s approach to multiculturalism, striking a balance between integration and the preservation of unique cultural identities, ensuring harmony within its diverse society.

With the amount of time we had to complete this project i could of made a few changes to my podcast  like i could of made the back round music a little louder or i could of made the audio clearer, or i could of just re-recorded some parts that I stuttered on, but besides that i would say that i had done pretty well for my first pod cast, plus i had to shorten my script because originally it was 1000 words and then i had to shorten it to 706 to make it fit in 5 mins if you would like to see my script for the podcast here is a link to it. file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/57/07/7B078487-39F3-4F62-8512-E48A5B0F55D0/Draft%203.pdf

Tpol 2024

For the first bit of my tpol I was tasked with marking off whatever I felt best suited me in this chart and we had to choose one segment from agency and two others segments from any other topic.

 

So for the agency one I chose the segment Accepting feedback and in it it says the learner accepts feedback and make revisions, and I think since the beginning of the school year I have been putting in a lot more effort into my school work and one of the big things that had made most of my projects as good as they were was from the feedback that I got from both my classmates and the teachers.

For the second one I chose communicating with peers because of the fact that most of my revisions and feedback had come from my fellow students.

For my final one I chose focus in the self-regulation section because I have been way more focused on my school work both in class and out of class. Like when I do my homework I wake up early and I work for a full hour before I go to school, a reason I have also been focused more in class is just because the teachers put us in random seating or edges daily at the beginning of the class.

Since my last pol I have done two plp projects and I wanted to talk about some good things in my projects, the bad things, and some things that I could change to make them better.

The first project that I did was “in the name of nationalism” and for this project I was tasked to research a country and how nationalism had affected them. With this information we had to make a 3-minute video and then post it on YouTube.

The country that I was put to research was Great Britain, so for the first two weeks of the project we got lots of class time to watch videos on what nationalism is and how it had affected many different countries around the world. So with my information I got to work trying to find pictures online that I could use and make into an awesome video for my channel. Once I had all of my pictures that I liked and all of my information on Great Britain I had to type out a script that would last me at least 3 minutes. After that I put together all of my work so far into the video and I did a voice recording. In the end I had ended up with 3 minutes and 48 seconds of me talking so I had to extend my video so the recordings would fit. After that the teachers put all of us into random groups and we had to do some peer feedback on our videos. In the end I got some very positive feedback and I had to tweak my video a little then I had to post it onto my school YouTube channel to finish with this project. One of the things that I would have changed was that I could have chosen a few more pictures because I had to extend some for  15 to 20 seconds long and I’m pretty sure the viewer doesn’t want to look at a picture that long. The thing that went well was that I was able to get lots of reliable information really fast so no matter what I had to only search for 5 minutes or less to find out a question that I might have had. One thing that I really liked about this project is that it let me learn the skills to edit and be able to make my own videos.

The second project that I did after my Mpol was for the winter exhibition. For the winter exhibition we were tasked with researching WW1 and making a comic on different roles of

 people in WW1. Everyone in the class was able to choose three things they would like to make the comic out of and one of them would get picked out of your top three. I was very lucky and I was able to get the battle that I wanted, which was “the battle of Ypres”. In this battle it was the British fighting against the Germans and during the battle the first ever use of gas was put into play by the Germans. So I had to research some more information on the battle.

After I had found enough information and watched a few videos on how to draw people I started working on the comic part of the project. For the comic I could either draw them myself or trace over an actual picture of the battle so I got to work and in the first two weeks I had only done 10. Then on the last week I had to hurry it up so I worked in the mornings and at night to complete the other 10 that I had to make. We also had to include different types of panels like a splash panel and a wide panel and some text that the main character says as well as the “narrator.” After I finished with all 20 of my panels then I handed it in and got it printed out for the exhibition. On the exhibition day I had all of my panels on a sheet to actually make it look like a comic then I stapled them together and the parents came in to look at all of our work. Then the exhibition ended and the project was over with it. Something that went really well is that I had already had lots of experience with drawing as I really liked to draw when I was younger so I brought back some of the skill from that. Something that I could have changed is that I would have spent more time drawing the final 5 because I’m going to say that it’s not the best work that I had drawn.

 

My Grade Nine Mpol

To start things of I would like to talk about the project that I think I could have improved on the most out of all of them this school year, the project that I’m talking about is my Frankein stuffie. It’s not because of how my stuffed “animal” turned out if you can even call it an animal, but its the video that I had to make on it using the basic hero’s journey story. Some of the things that I could have maybe changed is that I could have done a little bit better on the green screen for Jeremy (My stuffed animal). Like on most of the film you can see the green outline on him and on me when I was in the story I could have gone back in the end and cut out the most amount of green that I could have. Something else that bothered me in the end is that I misspelt beginning somehow. I wasn’t focused enough and I spelt it “beginig” missing the last N. In general, I think that I could have done better by my standards and by the teacher’s standards.

Another thing that I sort of failed the first time was my DI group because in the first quarter of the project I hadn’t really helped out my group then one of my team members saw me goofing off and not really contributing then after I talked with him I started to help out a lot more with my group and in the first part of DI, I’m not completely sure what place we got for DI but I’m pretty sure we didn’t do too well so for the next half of DI, I was trying to help out my team by coming up with ideas on how to extend the script and helping Magnus actually have a costume since last time we were mostly focused on the machine and on the script that we sort of forgot our costumes and he just wore a tan shirt and pants so for the next Time I helped him make a turtle shell and a mask for his costume to be complete.

Some of the projects that I had lots of fun whilst doing them are my Franken stuffie. And yes, I know that I was just talking about all of the things that I could have changed as a learner doing the project but I had lots of fun making the Franken stuffie. I had learned how to sew things together and in the project the standard was that you had to sew 3 parts of random stuffed animals but I was doing it with one of my friend and I was having such a good time doing it so I added 5 parts to my animal.

Another project that I had a load of fun doing was my metaphor machine because I had to make a Rube Goldberg machine and I had done this in the past in my old elementary school. But we only made a drawing of it so we didn’t make it in elementary so I was so glad that I got the chance to make one with some of my class mates, I think that that project might have been one of the best projects that I have done in a group we got Russia and we had to do lots of research and we had to know the whole October revolution and we had to make a sign with a Timeline and the key points after that with the newly found information we had to make a metaphor machine which is a Rube Goldberg machine with seven metaphors from the October revolution the one that I came up with was the first thing that we put in our machine at it was the old ruler stepping down and his son stepping up to the role so for this I came up with the design of a pulley system so the ball goes in to one cup and another out the other cup. After that we all came up with a script to make like a video documentary with all of us in it and we had to dress up as a Russian peasant back then since that was what our research came up with the most and we all had roles in this project like script writer head design engineer and videographer the role that I chose what designer engineer so I had every one send me their designs for their part of the machine and I had to find out a way to connect them in the end I had to put them in historical order and that took a really long time to complete, in the end with the design that I made for the machine we started to build it and we presented to all of the parents and everyone in my group had a good time doing this project.

Some of the other things that have helped my learn a lot was the loon lake trip that we took an the thing that I had learned the most on that trip is trust in my teammates/Classmates because we had to do a lot of team building exercises like a trust fall of a chair on a table and a rope course 15 feet in the air ( it might be more I’m not sure). Another project That I had learned from was take your kid to work day video because I had learned what my dad does in a day and I also learned a little on how to use an app called Auto CAD which will hopefully come handy in collage.

One of the last things that I would like to talk about for my Mpol is my learning plan and for my parents who don’t know what that is, it’s my plan for what I want my Grades to be for the school year and for my learning plan I had put my grades as Humanities proficient, science extending, and so far I have a proficient in science and a developing in humanities and to fix this in my learning plan I put that I would try to focus in my classes and and try to participate with my class mates more and try to participate more in class like say the teacher asks if some one know anything about british nationalism then i could put up my hand and say something about it.

Frankenstuffies Blog post

For this project we had to massacre 3 stuffed animals and sew them back together in a new form, i had extra stuffed animals so i added five parts to my Frankenstuffie that is what the teachers called them since they are like franken stine so we all had to make our own ill show how my’n turned out at the end we also had to make a video on how they were made and a video on there origin story mashed on the hero’s journey so i made him going to work then he got kidnapped and is now trying to find a way to get vengeance on the person who changed his normal body in to what ever the heck i made

For our di project we had to make a Pin Ball machine out of card board wood and we had to have “ three different modules” to make the machine do an action such as light up something or make the ball change direction oh and the machine had to be 8 feat long and it used a soccer ball as the pin ball, in the end the three modules that my team chose was to make the ball change direction hid the ball from viewer sight and to make a sound 

For make a sound we had made a long shaft on its side and put keys on the end of it so when the balls hit the pole then it would make a sound 

For make the ball change direction we had put some screws barely in to our machines sides so when the ball hits the elastics that we put over the screws then it would rebound and go in the opposite direction

For hid ball from viewer sight we had cut open a dryer tube and made a little stack of card board then we had stapled the dryer tube on to our machine wall and in to the card board so the ball would go in to the end of the tube and get stuck in the machine 

And for the machine we had to have a topic to make our machine off of so we chose to make it Mario themed ( we almost got disqualified for copy right 😅) so we all had costumes such as Mario Luigi princes peach and bowser and the narrator for our story script just got to wear a nice shirt and pants, and some how i got stuck playing princes peach so we had to come up with a script and a little play for our machine when we presents so i had to yell for help in a girly voice,
