The Winter Exhibition

Hello everyone and welcome to my Winter Exhibition Blog Post

The first thing we did to start off this project was watch avatar and record all the themes we saw in the movie like Racism, and colonization. After we watch the movie we chose a theme we wanted to study and we split up into a group of people that chose the same theme. After getting in our groups we were instructed to create a b roll with a couple of people to practice for the documentary. What my group did was talk about our favourite thing about seycove. After we had practice with that type of filming we moved on to writing our plan for the documentary. Which is called a pitch form. After we finished the pitch form we started to plan what we would say to our interviewee in our letter to them. I decided to interview my friend from Alberta. After we figured out who we wanted to interview we sent out our letters to them and planned an interview with questions ready. Once we finished that we would go on to finding our b roll for the video. A b roll is a slow pan of something while me and the interviewee talk. After we filmed that we met up with our interviewee and had an interview. We asked all of the questions we had and they answered all of them. Then we started to piece our film together. The whole point of this film was to relate real world themes to the movie avatar. Like for instance Europeans coming to Canada and disturbing the indigenous was similar to the humans in avatar disturbing the Na’vi.

Once we were happy with our film we started to create viewing box’s for the exhibition. My viewing box was a big black box with a hole in the top so you could see through it and watch my film in the box. It was wrapped with black paper and had a green russia painted onto the side similar to the one of the risk board. After we finished all of that and personal work was complete we started decorating our rooms. The main theme of the room I was in was risk the board game. My job was to make the sugar cookies for the guests. The room had paper continents taped to the walls and a bunch of risk board game boxes on shelves and a puzzle of the world as an activity. After we had the whole room set up we mad sure everything was perfect and and then we were finally ready for guests. I think I did well at the exhibition and I presented my movie to many people. And finally this is the link for my video.
