What’s up and welcome to a short post about a recent project we have finished in math. This project was all about exponents and their laws. We started of learning how to use exponents within equations. We then learnt all about the exponent laws. Below is a photo showing them all.

Anyways the laws are used when multiplying or dividing exponents andwhen there are two exponents with brackets. After getting the math down we learnt about how math is used in games then we started coming up with our own games. Our game sucked at first, but after a few revisions we created a simple, but fun game that somewhat resembled the card game ‘war’.

Now I am going to talk about a few curricular competencies that I have improved. Number one is communicating and representing. We had to show our game to many different people and make the instructions clear. I feel I have improved immensely at simplifying instructions and representing how you play. The second one is understanding and solving. I have definitely learnt how to use exponents and solve them within complicated equations. I barely knew what an exponent was before let alone exponent laws, but now I can confidently use them. There are many more competencies I have improved throughout this project, but I’m only going to talk about one last one. Connecting and reflecting. I confidently can use exponents now and I even used them to create the game we made. Using the exponent laws in our game shows how much we have improved our connecting skills to the real world.

Anyways thanks for reading this short post, and as always..

Until next time… Aedan Loughran
